Hey Opeth17! It's not even 6am . . . what the hell are you doing awake at this hour?

i need to get into rush someday. i've had moving pictures for a long time, but unless they are rockin' out i really really really dislike it. so like, tell me what rush is completely degayed but still proprog'd, or something.

I'd say anything up to Hemispheres if you want the screeching Geddy and the riff-mad Alex and mustache-clad Neil version of Rush, songs like Anthem and Cygnus X-1 still crush all in their path...for an overview of just that period, get All The World's A Stage.

Good advice.

yes...

or Different Stages, which includes disc 3, a live set from 1978.

and: the antithesis to the "all drummers are flakes" philosophy:

Neil Peart during Ghost Rider days. I need to read that book again.

why doesn't Opeth17 post here anymore? was he part of the mass exodus of Opethians who left over that childish incident?

Thanks for noticing I've been gone for a month J. :tickled:

I guess I shouldn't miss a thread that has my name on it. I was on a trip to tour the battlefields of the American Civil War. For some reason, I stayed up for about 38 hours straight when I got home. I never got tired and finally forced myself to go to sleep, it was weird. Here's a copy of my post in another forum:

I just got back from a hectic month long tour of the mighty United States and I hope to get settled back in soon. We drove from southern Colorado to Pennsylvania down along the east coast and then back through the south, down to Texas and finally back home. Our main stop point was Virginia as the purpose of this trip was to tour the battlefields of the American Civil War and overall it was a blast, though pretty crazy. Went to D.C. and numerous other big cities, took countless pictures, picked up 8 billion brochures and souvenirs and even went down to Mexico. (they're a little crazy in those border towns, I tell ya what.)

A couple notes:

-From Kansas to eastern Ohio was the longest stretch of NOTHING I have ever seen in my life.

-Northerners(aka Yankees) can not cook worth a damn. If they had to prepare a meal to save their lives, the entire population would perish. How I cherished my short time in the South (Louisiana) and finally being home.

-Queen (the band) fucking rules. I listened to very little outside of that group for almost a month.

-Richmond is the nicest big city I've ever experienced and Washington D.C., while interesting and historic, would be the greatest pain in the ass of a place to live that the human mind could possibly conjure up.

-I rode a train for the first time.

-The American Civil War is one of the most epic events in history and without a doubt the defining moment of this country.

-I have to re-iterate the fact that I didn't eat a decent meal from home until Gettysburg at GENERAL PICKETT'S BUFFET. That's sad.

I hope I've offended some of you with those statements. :loco:

I don't know where else to say this but uhh... Darkthrone's Land of Frost FUCKING KICKS ASS. I don't even care that it sounds amateurish because it's AWESOME.

Cajun food does rock. as for northern food, you just went to the wrong places. you may have noticed in your travels that we have imported some negroes to help us cook.

in my Kerouac phase I drove from NH to AZ....you are absolutely right...I think every American should see the entire country but some of it need not be visited twice :erk::tickled:
