Well, that's actually a funny story. The simplest answer is that the name comes from Abdel-Hakim 'Amer, the former Egyptian Field Marshal, co-conspirator, and lover of former Egyptian President Gamel Abdel Nasser.
As boys, 'Amer and I loved to frolick across the beautiful landscape of southern Lebanon. "One day, 'Amer," I would tell the young lad "We will ruin all of this."
Our paths eventually diverged, but fate brought us back together again and allowed us to make some glorious war together. 'Amer and I had grown up, then, and he was now the lad of Nasser and not myself any longer, but we cherished our good times together. When he had a spat with Nasser ("power struggle", they called it), I tried to win him back, but he committed suicide instead. I was very broken up, and took the name in question then, to remember my beautiful darling boy.
