Wow.....that's almost a list of bands I don't like!

Arthemis' last 2 releases I enjoyed very much. How come those or the band itself doesn't get mentioned around this forum more often?

I still have warm feelings for SOAD, since they're the very first metal I listened to. As such, I'll listen to them occasionally even if only for the nostalgia, but some of their tracks are still quite good. Hypnotise / BYOB?

I enjoyed all of Arthemis's albums except Church of the holy ghost. It has very terrible production, and the songs are quite boring! Yeah, it's weird that Arthemis doesn't get mentioned a lot, as Alessio was in it.

The very first metal band that I listened to(I believe), was either DragonForce, Disturbed, or Slipknot. SOAD is one of the last. All of their albums are good for me, but they are all short! Especially Mezmerize and Hypnotize, they seem like one album to me.

Hmmm. Do you only like power metal? I think all of those bands are in that genre. Except maybe Helloween.

Blind Guardian is one of them, but they really started out more as a thrash/speed metal type band... check out the song Majesty if you don't know it, it's one of their killer songs from the early days!

Helloween began the whole power metal thing a few years before they did. Typically praised as the true founders of the genre... Kai Hansen being the ringleader :p

They never called it "power metal" though ;)

Very true......I remember listening to "Walls of Jericho" and "Follow the Blind" and I'm pretty sure it was referred to as speed metal in the advertising blurb way back when.

Exactly :) Look at the fact that the first 2 Helloween songs ever recorded came out on a Noise LP called "Death Metal" hehe. That's the only LP I am missing btw from the 80's Helloween records :(

If you only name Helloween for the whole genre people now call "Power Metal" I think you need to name more bands than just Helloween. Surely Alcatrazz, Pretty Maids, Riot, Chroming Rose, Rising Force, Axel Rudi Pell, Savage Grace, Tokyo Blade, Ivanhoe and on and on put the base for what Power Metal represents nowadays. Whereas never bands like Labyrinth, Rhapsody, Projecto, Shadows of Steel, Blind Guardian, Icead Earth, Hammerfall and on and on definetely also put a penny in the powermetal basket without having called their music power metal back then.
