Hi !!

Excuse my lousy english-skills.. it was along time since I was on a forum.

4 years ago I think ... I made one of the biggest mods for Starcraft, great game ..

I come from the southern parts of Sweden and enjoy Vintersorgs all creations, Thyrfing, Amorphis, SYL and Håkan Hellström.
...and REM, U2, Loreena McKennitt etc ...

I have a dream .. (:
I'm in a band called Frostnatt and recently we decided to write the songs completely together instead of having me serving the "frames" of the songs.
But I have an unstoppable urge to create songs so I had to start a soloproject of my own while working on doing songs more together in Frostnatt.

The soloproject is called Nattsmygand I just finished my first demo which is downloadable. I had to record all with my 7$ computermicrophon if you're wondering why the quality is crappy.

Demo nr2 is already on it's way and it will sound a little bit better and I will have a bass this time.

I do everything but the drums, that is taken care of by Frostnatt's drummer.
I have no idea what to do if I want to play live, guess I'll have to hire people who would like to play the songs.

Vintersorg is my biggest idol of all artists and my dream is to one day play at the same festival and drink beer with him (:

He makes so much on his own and that's really inspiering.

I know I'm nothing compared to Vintersorg, but if you like to download my songs anyway... go to http://www.nattsmyg.com

I hope I can feel welcomed here

I like your music! ofcourse it's not as great as vintersorg ;) heheh but it sure is great, especially the songs I nattens dunkel and Elden på vargfjället :)

I like it too. Even though there are some things I don't like about it (not too found of the growling), there are parts that are really nice.
Good luck with recording the next demo, and be sure to tell us when it is finished.

I agree with amf, some parts were really cool and actually made me stomp my foot along with the music. But the growling, the sound, the drums was definitly not good. But keep it up, I look forward to hear your next demo as well!

Thanks for your opinions, good or bad- I need to hear the truth

Does someone know a way to learn to growl better, cause I know I'm a beginner at it and I have to get better, but I don't know how :erk:

The drums will start to sound a little bit better on the next demo I hope.
I tried to record them in stereo with better microphones but the stereo will have to wait cause it didn't work for some reason.

It was my birthday yesterday :Spin:

Happy birthday! :)
If you wan't better-sounding drums, and since you're a one-man-project, you should try out a rythm-machine. (there are a lot of software rythm-machines awailable today, you just have to find the best sound).
As for the growl, how old are you?
The music is ok, it'd be great with a better production.

Thank you (:
I will try a rythm-machine but I'm not convinced that the sound will be better than a real drummer.
I'm 22 and a day but I got interested in making music and joined a band when I was 21 and that's when I first tried to growl..
Is there a way except having to involve whiskey ?

Yeah I've wanted to get my scream/roar better for a while now, the way I do it without hurting my throat is through breathing in when I do it.

(great to see another vintersorg fan on the forums)

I've never "tried" to growl, to me it just came naturally. I guess im lucky since i always get complimented for my growling...

I have this one-man band called Thyr (since that is my name =P), ill post a link when the website is up.

Thyr is old school black metal with scandinavian folklore in the lyrics.

Just a heads-up, Nattsmyg....

Your webpage will not load on a FireFox browser... At least, the links on the main page don't appear to be links....only text. My IE isn't opening it correctly either...Damn, and I wanted to hear these growls all of you were discussing. :yell:

I think I'll follow your advice and only do clean vocals, and thanks for saying they are good (:

Right now a few persons has contacted me about doing the grim vocals so that I don't have to do them (:
I believe it would be hard to perform the song I Nattens Dunkel live singing all by myself since the clean/grim vocals overlap eachother.

Soon I will hopefully have another persons grimvocals on the demo, new drums are already recorded and bass is added -then I will upload the new versions if you're interested to do some listening.
I will even redo the ... mouthharp?? (mungiga) since it was my birthday last wednesday and my mum gave me the biggest mungiga ever (:

I don't know what I can do with the Firefox problem =/
I have my website on a webhotel called http://www.flippflopp.se
If more of you experience these problems then perhaps I should call my webhotel to see if they can help me ..

amf- did you get my mail ?

Thanks for the direct links, guys. I have now listened to all of the songs on there and I must agree... good sound all in all, but the vocals could be somewhat polished. However, can't wait to hear what you come up with, Nattsmyg. So many bands sound the exact same these days... I have honestly quit looking for any new bands with a folkish/pagan metal feel to them. Half of them just sound like Opeth rip-offs. Good to hear someone doing something different for a change. :)

Stick with Nattsmyg and I'll do my best to give you good folkish metal (:

I listen to you guys you know, and I've now re-recorded the demo (:
Bass, new drums and new growl from my drummer.
I hope ýou will notice the improvements.
Nattsmyg

If you know anyone who would like to do the grim vocals in Nattsmyg and lives in southwest of Sweden, please contact me since it will be a bit hard for Anton the drummer to do both drums and grim vocals.

Yes! This is a huge improvement since last. Much better in every way! The grim vocals are way better now.
Although the sound still isn't very good, you can't get everything...:p
Sadly, I can't say that I'm really satisfied with the lyrics though. They need to be worked on IMHO. Write more lyrics in the vein of "Elden På Vargfjället" - that works much better than those on eg. "Stjärnljuset". But keep it up!
