horror movie hoe-down!!!

Seen Nekromantik 2? Think it edged it out past Cannibal Holocaust for me.
I'm replying to this 2 year old post because I didn't notice it back then, oops. I will watch this and the first one! I am hoping for a nice companion double feature to Troll and Troll 2.

Re: found footage stuff, I still adore the original Blair Witch. It has lost nothing with time for me. But I even liked the second one, for a crappy/fun horror movie that is decidedly stuck in the year 2000.

I never watched the first Nekromantik (if it even exists), I think I got it on Netflix dvd like 7 years ago. Just so fucking weird man, don't really recommend it past "Wow this chick likes to fuck dead dudes".

oh it exists. pretty fuckin weird but mostly kind of boring. the very end is by far the most fucked up part, and that image stays with you. it's pretty original i guess? first full-on corpsefuckers movie i ever saw anyway. probably funner with a group, so you have someone to share the finale with :puke:

Now that the Hallowe'en season has come and gone, again, I must make Dorian-esque reviews of every horror thing I watched this October:

Carnival of Souls - An utter mindfuck, good by today's standards, absolutely fantastic for 1962. If you don't like this, you're weird.

A Field in England - I picked this up in my mailbox today, 11/3/14, but it had been sitting there since October 31st, so it counts. I haven't seen it yet.

The Illustrated Man - I watched this in high school 20 years ago. We didn't get around to seeing it just yet. But the Netflix disc is here.

[REC] - Really neato, nothing special, but very solid. The main chick looks like a mouse. A mouse that I would enjoy having sex with.

Dracula's Daughter - Fell asleep during the first 10 minutes. Tried again, fell asleep 20 minutes in. It seems pretty good, but it's a bit like NyQuil. Someday I'll make it to 30 minutes.

Witchboard - Quite possibly the worst piece of shit I've seen since Troll 2. Well, in the Bottom 50 at least. Even if it did have Patch from Days of Our Lives!

The Mummy - I slept through several chunks, but I think I got the gist of it. A classic film that I'm too young to truly enjoy, but god damn if I didn't appreciate it.

Panic in Year Zero - Fucking unreal survival movie with awful acting. It was like a really bad Twilight Zone, but that still means it was pretty good.

The Last Man on Earth - Incredible! I cannot choose a favoUrite between this, The Omega Man, and I Am Legend. Vincent Price is 10,000x better than Chuck Heston and Will Smith put together, so I guess this one is best, simply by default.

Tomb of Ligeia - I had a raging erection for the dead female lead, especially when she put on a black wig.

An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe - Okay this was completely unexpected, and likely the coolest thing I've ever seen Vincent Price do, which is really saying something. Four Poe tales acted out solo by Mr. Price, and he was in absolute top form for all of them. Terrible transfer from television and/or Betamax, but absolutely fantastic content. Highly recommended!

Nosferatu: The Gothic Industrial Mix - Pretty goofy, still fun.

Only Lovers Left Alive - The best movie I've seen all year. Cinematic perfection.

You're Next - Stupid gory stupid fun. Completely average and enjoyable, extra points for Barbara Crampton!

Humanoids from the Deep - Terrible film in every possible way. But! After 20 minutes of utter boredom, the next hour+ is full of large breasted women being raped by really gross sea critters. 7 thumbs up!

Halloween - The more I've watched this one, the more I've enjoyed it. I still think it is nowhere near Carpenter's best film, but I'm very glad it exists.

Halloween III - My absolute #1 favoUrite movie to watch on All Hallow's Eve. The best bad movie ever made, it's amazing the stupid little details you notice after hundreds (no exaggeration) of viewings.

The Raven - I'm tired of typing.

The Comedy of Terrors -

watched Halloween II (new one, directors cut) over the weekend. if you didnt like Zombie's first take on Halloween, this one wont convert you. not scary so much as just very unpleasant. he kinda does the reverse of last time, the beginning is just like the original H2, the rest is completely different. Lori is still all fucked up and having nightmares every night, lashing out at everyone around her etc, Dr Loomis has gone full blood-money-exploiting ego-maniac, michael is guided by the ghost of his mother. i guess the sheriff and annie are somewhat likeable because they have to put up with Lori's shit all the time, everyone else is kind of a jerk. i've read that Lori and Loomis are less harsh in the theatrical cut, whatever that's worth. as i said above, there are not really any 'scares', it's just really brutal and sad. i feel like i'm one of the few that really liked the first one, not sure how i feel about this one.

@NADs movie reviews: awesome

@Neal's: I liked Zombie's Halloween movies. I saw them in theaters. What is this Directors Cut you speak of? Is it newly released?

Saw this a few days ago, knew absolutely nothing at all before, hadn't seen a poster or heard it mentioned or anything at all. Didn't even realize who the celebs were until after it finished. Completely awesome.

I love Flight of the Conchords and mockumentaries so I'm definitely down for this. Feb 13 American release date? Or I could just pirate it somewhere. Decisions decisions.

So yeah, What We Do in the Shadows is fucking good. So damn well made.

Also, The Demon's Rook is finally getting released tomorrow (Tuesday). I definitely recommend checking it out, it's fairly low budget, with some fairly shitty acting, with a fairly decent story, and some pretty damn badass practical effects.

I watched Horns yesterday. I was expecting it to be a cheesy horror comedy, but it was actually pretty intense. I wouldn't even classify it as horror, more of a mystery + sweet revenge movie, but I guess the imagery brings it into the horror category. Harry Potter did a decent job with the role, imo.
