horror movie hoe-down!!!

*cough* Dr. Strangelove *cough*

I suppose that could qualify for a horror movie of sorts. :)

Dont forget Brad Dourif who plays the possesed murderer in Exorcist III, he always kicks ass. Exorcist II is cool too. The first one is definetally in the top 10 of best horror movies of all times

Actually, The Exorcist and The Changeling are horror films that actually scare me, otherwise most horror doesn't really scare me. It's all so 'fantastical' that the minute the movie ends, life resumes as normal. I will say though that Dark Water was both scary and saddening, so I don't know how to categorize that. And the Devils Backbone was just so sad, it was beautiful.

Gory films rule. It's beer drinking, mindless fun, and Day of the Dead rules them all, along with Evil Dead 2.

But then there are some films that disturb me - stuff like Silence of the Lambs, The Vanishing (the original please, not the shitty US version goddamn), Se7en, and Natural Born Killers. Last night, I saw Red Dragon for the first time, and I have to say, I was really impressed with Ralph Fiennes playing the "tooth fairy". When the film ended, I double locked all my windows, heh.

We really need to make a top ten horror movie thread or something.

THE OTHERS was the last movie that completely spooked me ... if you have a good surround sound system it has the spookiest eeriw sound effects ever ... great movie also.

As far as reality horror ... REQUIEM FOR A DREAM ... i was wiggin for days after this (also benefits from a good sound system)

good idea, but I would be more interested in a Top 10 General Movie list ... not just horror.

If you like GORE, you must check out (if you havent already) Lucio Fulci movies. Horror and much GORE (intestines, blood etc)
Fulci films in my collection:

The Beyond
House by the Cemetary
City of the Living Dead
Zombie (Flesh Eaters)

I guess some of these names might be different in Greece, but yeah, I love me some Fulci. I think I even have his Conan rip off (Conquest) on old VHS somewhere.

Yes these 4 were exactly what i would recommend if you didnt have them. They are flawless. Death in "Scream Bloody Gore" were inspired from "City Of The Living Dead" in a song's lyrics. You can check out "New York Ripper" which is a usual cop/crime story with a guy that does brutal murders to girls. In one really graphic scene he cuts a woman's eyes and nipples with a razor.
You like cannibal movies too? The epitome of Gore in all aspects

Cool. Remember when Europe were a metal band? Ever hear the song "Seven Doors Hotel"? Of course, all based on Fulci's "The Beyond".

Right, well this is what I have:

Ruggero Deodato trilogy:
-Jungle Holocaust
-Cannibal Holocaust (the epitome of cannibal films and exploitation in general)
-Cut and Run (although there is nothing cannibalistic about this film)

Cannibal Ferrox
Cannibal Apocalypse - not really much cannibalism, but John Saxon rules
Zombi Holocaust (Dr Butcher MD) - which is cannibal/zombie mix

There's probably some more cannibal films out there...

Try "mountain of the cannibal god" (or smthing) for the gore and Ursula Andres, and "Anthropophagus" (which was filmed in Greece) where a guy becomes a cannibal after eating his child and his wife in order not to starve.
And for deep shit (but good fun) "Violent Shit 3", this movie has cannibals, ninjas, zombies, and terrorists.

Jesus that's a fucked up movie. Perfectly fitting that Today is the Day - Sadness Will Prevail has that ass-to-ass part sampled on the second disc. :Spin:

I saw the original Night of the Living Dead finally. Probably was really scary when it came out, but we just kind of laughed at most of it. I do have respect for it because of the influence it had, though.

Also saw a Vincent Price movie called "Last Man on Earth". Utterly horrible piece of shit it was. We had a very jolly MST3K night with that one. It was almost too easy to mock.

Requiem for a Dream is overrated. Yes, addictions are bad and wreck lives. Thanks for that. And I kept waiting for that Wayans bro to make a joke.

Red Dragon was OK, but I wasn't blown away. The book was much better. I guess I'm over the I-was-abused-so-now-I-must-kill-because-my-dad-made-me-touch-his-weewee serial killers. Get some freakin' help, duder!

Devil's Backbone was pretty dang good, but I'm simply not a fan of subtitles. It takes away from a movie like that, where even the simplest thing can make a difference in the character's reactions.

As far as gore, I thought Event Horizon was pretty juicy on the red plasma. Decent movie, too.

The last movie that got under my skin was The RIng. That little girl freaks me out.

Nah, not at all. On the contrary, there is nothing worse than English speaking 'actors' dubbing their voices over someone else who's not been speaking English. It sounds bad, it looks awful, the 'acting' is all out of context...I have so many foreign movies where this dubbing has taken place, and I would replace them all if I could find them with the original voice-tracks.

In honesty, that was probably the most crappy transition between movies. The original actress in the Japanese version is totally, totally fucked up. Bloodshot eyes hiding behind the hair, etc. The first time I saw that girl climb out of the TV (years before the US rip off), I shat myself.
