horror movie hoe-down!!!

Okay I will give Ringu the nod for that: the girl coming out of the TV in the Ring scared the fuck out of me, but that scene in Ringu still gives me nightmares. Well, figuratively. :tickled:

Event Horizon was great, I should probably pick that DVD up.

I have a Night of the Living Dead DVD I scored for like $3 that I've never seen. Maybe on Halloween night I'll pop my proverbial zombie cherry...

The actual videotape images in Ringu are better as well. They are random chaos, whereas the US version has the dead horses (wtf?) and ladder and whatever else, meh. It's all so well constructed and vivid, trying too hard to make sense. It's a fucking curse, not a Blockbuster rental.

For the most part, when you've already fallen in love with the originals, the remakes suck.

Either way, The Changeling > Ringu > The Ring

I searched in imdb about "The Changeling" and omg that was a shock, i had seen this movie many times on tv, but never knew the title (they probably made a shitty translation for the greek language). It is S - C - A - R - Y.

Saturday the 14th iz OMG uber scary

28 Weeks Later was surprisingly better than I had hoped. Watched it last night. Loads of flaws scattered throughout but some of the sequences were top notch (opening scene in the country house, death by helicopter, London underground through night vision scope, and a few others).

Awesome movie. Very scary on the big screen. I'll find out how it compares at home when it gets here in a few days.
Very scary movie. On par with The Descent me thinks.

I missed it on the big screen, but can only imagine. That helicopter scene must have ruled. And hell yes on The Descent. Tell me more horror movies you like Dorian because right now you're 2/2. :kickass:

It's scary knowing that the 'zombies' were at Reagents park, and I live right by there.

There were a lot of good scenes in the film, but the attitude of it all kind of rubbed me the wrong way.

To start off, how about Dog Soldiers and The Haunting

Some modern day flicks I truly enjoy are Dawn of the Dead (remake) and Cabin Fever. Neither garnered much credit from horror fans but they both have their moments. Cabin has some truly odd bits thrown in that make it it's own movie in spite of the fact that it's an homage. Further, there's boobies.

I found the attitude to be relentless horror that made me physically ill. It wasnt until I was leaving the building that I realized, "that fucking ruled!"

I just watched it at home last night and thought it was ok. I found it a little silly that the father was following them around. There were a few good scenes, though.

I agree, there were 2 major flaws: (i) the father always showing up everywhere, and (ii) how he was able to access his wife in quarantine so easily. There were probably a few others but nothing too bad.

Be that as it may, the film delivered. Good horror films are hard to come by these days so I'm willing to live with a few gripes here or there. The 70's are long gone. :loco:

 I forgot about the access to the quarantine. WTF was that?! Ok...there's this virus that basically put the kibosh on the UK and we have someone carrying it. Let's leave her completely unguarded in (what appeared to be) a parking garage protected by nothing but the swipe of a keycard which is as close to not having any security as you can get. Not to mention that there were either n cameras in the room or someone was sleeping on their shift.

I do agree that it was better than most these days. I thought the original was wonderful.

Someone earlier also mentioned Cabin Fever...while nothing groundbreaking, I agree that it had the right feel and was better than most people gave it credit for being.
