horror movie hoe-down!!!

For the rest of the month, I'm doing nothing on my evenings except eating pizza and watching horror movies.

Gonna get all of the Netflix out of the way before I start going to the video store.

Last night:
INSIDIOUS - 7/10
SESSION 9 - 9/10

In the coming days:
THE THING
HOUSE OF THE DEVIL
HOUSE OF USHER
BLACK SABBATH
THE DUNWICH HORROR
THE FOG
PRINCE OF DARKNESS

^never seen any of those

Any more suggestions for Instant Queue?

Is Black Sabbath the Mario Bava one? My least favorite Italian..can't get into his work..Have you seen 70s/80s Fulci and Argento? Best of anything ever..Hopefully Carpenter's The Thing, my favorite film...so amazing. House of the Devil is probably the best 70's styled horror movie i've seen in the last 10 years, underrated goodness. Prince of Darkness is sweet too, pretty eerie.

Yeah. Keep hearing about how great it is. Early 60s was a great time for horror flicks.

Yes and yes. Not exactly HUGE on either (a bit too corny for my tastes--especially Fulci..... I wanted to KILL that little kid from House By the Cemetary), but they're okay. Deep Red is probably my favorite thing either of them ever did.

I have no idea why I haven't seen those Carpenter movies. I mostly dig his work.

House of the Devil is the one I'm excited about the most, after reading some reviews. Sounds exactly like my type of thing.

House of the Devil sounded like my thing too, until I saw it and realized it was complete shit. Old Argento is king btw. The last 15 minutes or so of Tenebre is cinematic perfection.

Carpenter's other flick..with Sam Neill about the book, can't think of the name is really good too. It was the release before or after PRince of Darkness..supposed to be some sort of trilogy of some crap.

And all Giallo films of the 70s are great..I have like 15 of 'em back at home, superb.

I believe you're referring to "In the Mouth of Madness"

I feel the exact same way. Being a huge Ti West fan I was all over this movie. But holy crap it was just lifeless. A slow burn is ok if there's something interesting going on. Outside of the last 15-20 minutes the movie was an all around boring disappointment.

His latest movie The Innkeepers is a bit of a slow burn as well but found that infinitely more entertaining than House of the Devil.

So far his movie The Roost has been the best thing he's done.
