How much do you maintain your own gear? At which point will you get someone else to fix it?

I won't touch amplifiers betond fixing the odd potentiometer, but will happily fix and resolder my cables rewire my guitars and do my own guitar setup/maintenance(replacing worn out Hardware etc).

What about everyone else? (any instrument)

How far will you go to fix it?

Same as you. I don't want the hassle of looking for amp parts and trying to fix those, but I do almost all of my guitar maintenance myself, including changing pots etc. The only thing I don't think I want to do is adjust the intonation on a floyd rose, although I've seen ads for tools for that too... haven't seen 'em in shops tho.

I'll do a preamp tube change, but won't try biasing a power tube change...

Most of my guitar repairs, I'd send off to a luthier, changing pickups, fretlevels etc, but I do all my own truss, trem and intonations myself...
