Reminiscence
Oblique and Nebulous
My grandfather is about 72, minimal health problems, very active, and very capable of wiping his own arse.

I still, on occasion, have dreams (nightmares) about smoking at the bar. The dreams were very frequent for the first couple of years. During the first year of cig abstinence, I repeatedly told my wife that I'd never bust smokers' balls for smoking around me. It didn't smell that bad. But....after the first year everything changed. All of a sudden, cigarette smoke became the most foul odor imaginable. The faintest hint of that smell gives me an instant headache, and my stomach does a somersault. For any of you thinking about quitting, this is when you know that you will never smoke cigs again. Trust me, it ain't cool. I'd rather stick my nose in a fresh pile of dogshit. I can smell smoke coming through my air vents on the highway, even if the smoker's vehicle is way ahead of me.
I smoke cigars on occasion.

To me, having to deal with someone else's smoke is the equivalent of being pissed on. It's gross and disgusting and unsanitary and I shouldn't have to worry about it when I go out to have a good time, so I'm glad this law is in effect. Although, EVERYONE that goes to a bar has to piss at some point or another and they have special rooms for people to do that. Why can't they make special rooms for the smaller number of people that want to smoke their cigarettes, too?

New tobacco laws were passed by Parliament on 10 August 2005 and will take effect from 1 March 2006 and 1 July 2007.
From 1 March 2006 the new laws will:
* ban smoking in most enclosed workplaces;
* ban smoking, the promotion of tobacco products and the sale of tobacco products at underage 'music/dance' events;
* ban smoking in covered areas of train station platforms, tram shelters and bus shelters;
* ban 'buzz marketing' and non-branded tobacco advertising; and
* strengthen laws to enforce the ban on cigarette sales to your people.
From 1 July 2007 the new laws will ban smoking in enclosed licensed premises.
ahah this would actually work but it'll never happen.Shpongled said:I say... make nicotine illegal and burn all the crops to the ground. It'll be hell on earth while everyone suffers from their withdrawls for a few months, but eventually they'll get over it and the world will be smoke free!
