Seriously, it's just an aesthetically pleasing firearm, and the fact that it's capable of taking a life doesn't necessarily mean that a person admiring it is dreaming of using it to blow someone away (and I admit, my interest and appreciation of guns comes from all the video games I've played, and I find it hard to believe any European fellow who's laid waste to legions of baddies with all sorts of different forms of virtual weaponry doesn't have some part of him that thinks that said weaponry is pretty sweet )

I used to be into guns and weaponry and such, mainly WWII era weaponry but as I've gotten older and as certain beliefs or viewpoints of mine have developed I can't get into "gun porn," can't get into FPS games as much, can't even get into most games that revolve around violence.
Been playing Empire Total War lately and I've been getting infuriated over there being no real peaceful way of playing, guess I need to get me some Civ 5..

But anyway, I digress.

I can appreciate Garth's point of view, but for me, it's simply a sexy weapon because of it's looks, construction, accuracy, etc. Seriously, everything H&K makes just screams quality to me and that is why I appreciate them.

Trust me, I'm a peaceful and subdued guy - I don't intentionally start shit with anyone and stay away from drama as much as possible. I simply like to have the piece around for my own well being and because it's assloads of fun to shoot! Sunday morning, grab my coffee, take a nice scenic drive to the range, hang out, shoot some paper targets, smoke cigs, bullshit with other guys at the range, etc.

I definitely do not fetishize the gun because it can blow someone's head off. I definitely have a deep respect for it.

The range I go to actually prides itself on safety and respect for the sport. You can't even bring any targets that resemble anything human, animal, etc.

On a serious note, the United States is big country and it isn't all like you see on tv. The whole country is not like Detroit. I grew up in a very small rural community in Michigan and it was a very safe place. My parents house is 12 miles from town on the corner of a dirt road were neighbors wave at each other out of big truck windows.

And the people in this community are armed to the teeth like the end of the world is going to happen tomorrow. Which is really crazy, but they don't cause any trouble and really nice actually.

Part of it is that there is no way the police could get to your house in under 45 minutes to and hour. The other part is that they don't trust the government at all. And if you even suggest that they don't really need all those assualt rifles they are ready to go to war with the fed's in a heart beat.

On a farm I prefer having a shotgun around to shoot rodents. My dad would never shoot them, he would just kill them with a pitchfork or an axe. Yes my dad is a crazy old man.

I understand not trusting the government and wanting to protect yourself, but I do not at all understand this type of argument. If the government wants to take over their town and rolls in with the 1st Marine division, these guys clinging to their 2nd Amendment rights aren't going to stop them. We have the most powerful military in the world, but some people think that a couple of handguns and assault rifles will be enough to stop it if it's ever turn on the people.

I hear you. It is not logical, but thats the way rednecks are. There are a disturbing number of people that think some new world order is going to turn the world into something like a Mad Max film.

Also I used to be in the army and if in some strange alternate universe my infantry unit had been ordered to fight a bunch of Americans I doubt anyone would have followed the orders. Service members are from all over the country (and the world actually) and nowbody in there right mind wants to shoot up their own folks.

Have you learned nothing from action movies? One guy with a handgun and his name atop the marquee can take down any military in the world.
I would argue that the civilian stockpiling of weapons would be most useful after some major catastrophe while they wait for the military to arrive.

Is this "the" meth capitol? I´ve seen a documentary about "the meth city" sometime ago about a city on the USA where meth was a huge problem, and had all kinds of white trash cooking their own drugs on trailers and stuff. It was pretty creep, all the folks with weird teeth and stuff.

Pick a city in the midwest or south in the USA. 100% grantee meth is the biggest drug in every one of them.
