I got mugged

In fairness? What fairness? How can you possibly compare the two situations? Both are equally horrible.

C'mon, i'm not trying to be a dick here at all but you cant compare millions of people being systimatically murdered to a kid surviving having the shit beat out of him. one situation is a lot worse than the other.
what happened to the kid was seriously uncool, seriously, but still, a little perspective people.

with the level of anger and twitch-reactions on display here how can anyone wonder why horrible things happen?

I know there are a lot of anti-gun peeps here, but if I didn't live in NJ I would have my concealed carry permit in a heartbeat. Fuck political correctness and fuck having faith in people...there are evil pieces of shit out there that will kill you for your wallet. I wouldn't want to be one of their victims.

Oh absolutely, I'm one of those anti-gun peeps but if dangerous folks were out there touting firearms freely then I'd have no hesitation in getting one myself.

Sure there's a morality issue, but if I was ever in danger from a similar sort of thing I'd put my natural instict to survive over any adopted sense of morality.

Having said this, I live in a country where guns are illegal, so I don't have to worry about this sort of thing, but certainly in that position I'd have no hesitation.

Because having governments run by political correctness is working out so well for us here in the west...

I don't know dude, all we have is an assortment of poor options. Obviously nothing in human history has worked out in weeding these shitbags out of the pool.

Don't know if it was in the news in the USA, Australia, UK etc..
But i think it was a week ago, a 13-years-old girl was wilfully struck by a car, then the guy got out, pulled the kid inside and raped her.
Then he dropped her off a few hundred meters away from her parent's. Later he declared that the whole thing was planned (not with that particular girl).
The girl was seriously injured, had multiple broken bones and i think she even passed out from time to time.
it's just sad and disgusting :( The guy has btw kids himself.
The only glimmer of hope is that she doesn't remember a thing, but you don't know if she will remember when the shock is over.

Who's Mengele? Is he a figure in the book? Cuz I'm only on page 55 so far

You need to listen to more Slayer, fucking ANGEL OF DEATH, the epitome of all thrash, was written about this dude!

Auschwitz, the meaning of pain
The way that I want you to die
Slow death, immense decay
Showers that cleanse you of your life
Forced in
Like cattle
You run
Stripped of
Your lifes worth
Human mice, for the angel of death
Four hundred thousand more to die
Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Sadistic, surgeon of demise
Sadist of the noblest blood

Destroying, without mercy
To benefit the aryan race

Surgery, with no anesthesia
Fell the knife pierce you intensely
Inferior, no use to mankind
Strapped down screaming out to die
Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of death

Pumped with fluid, inside your brain
Pressure in your skull begins pushing through your eyes
Burning flesh, drips away
Test of heat burns your skin, your mind starts to boil
Frigid cold, cracks your limbs
How long can you last
In this frozen water burial?
Sewn together, joining heads
Just a matter of time
til you rip yourselves apart
Millions laid out in their
Crowded tombs
Sickening ways to achieve
The holocaust
Seas of blood, bury life
Smell your death as it burns
Deep inside of you
Abacinate, eyes that bleed
Praying for the end of
Your wide awake nightmare
Wings of pain, reach out for you
His face of death staring down,
Your blood running cold
Injecting cells, dying eyes
Feeding on the screams of
The mutants hes creating
Pathetic harmless victims
Left to die
Rancid angel of death
Flying free

Angel of death
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead
Infamous butcher,
Angel of death

Hmmm maybe there was a slight misunderstanding here. I misread part of your post, but my point is:

Why try to justify one situation being more fucked up than the other? Both suck, both are pretty horrible.

The Holocaust was one point in history and child abuse is an all to common thing that happens every day in this country and abroad.

I don't think it's sensible to try to say one is "worse" than the other.

Haha, yeah, I definitely knew the song "Angel of Death" was about this dude, I just never knew his name ;) Ridiculously fucked up and savage...

Personally, I find it hilarious that so many people, especially americans, feel that they're safe if they have a gun. I guess this discussion has been done to death in the states already but it just keeps going in circles. The more guns there are, the bigger risk of them being used, as opposed to if there were no guns at all, there would be no risks of them being used at all.

I'm not trying to justify anything, just making an appeal for a sober and rational analysis of the situation.
we've already had one lad saying he wants to harm people because of his reaction to the child abuse case.
probably not serious but it screams irony.

I'm just pointing out that when people get angry and worked up in a country with easy access to guns and profess a desire to hurt people, then its easy to see how human beings end up hurting each other

Well yeah, that is one aspect of it which I can understand. Volatile personalities and firearms do not mix. I'm ALL FOR extensive background checks when it comes to purchasing a firearm. It is like this in NJ. A lot of the hardcore advocates are against this, but in this day and age I think that is ridiculous personally.

And Gojira, yes, it has been done to DEATH on these forums. General concensus is it's hard to find common ground on the issue.

My simplified view: Yes, it would be nice if they weren't in circulation so people like myself wouldn't feel the need for them, but that isn't the case. Never has been, never will be. That and I simply enjoy going to the range to shoot. It's a fun past time for me.

Yeah, well theres no doubt that availability perpetuates the problem. But if I was in a country where they were legal and that wasnt about to change soon I'd want to have one to protect myself from all the nutters who had no doubt got their hands on them. I think they're wrong but in a scenario like that I'd have to put my own safety first.

Strictly speaking the American constitution only says people should have guns as part of an "armed militia" - so I'd say that puts doubt to the fact that people were originally intended have a singular ownership of guns in the States anyway.

Oh sorry, I missed the part that you meant it's "good" to have a gun if it's legal. Of course, if everybody else has a gun, then you might as well too... as bad as it might be but still. I agree with ya, I think I would get a gun too if I was to live in USA for example.

I'm not great on US gun laws but are you allowed to carry your weapons outside of your house also, or is it meant to be kept only in your house, for defense?

Which has been the debate for years and years in this country my friend. But, considering militia alludes to the idea of an armed group of citizens, I'm inclined to think individual ownership is justified.

What ruined it for this country were the greedy and unlawful pieces of shit that had no regard for what happens to us and ALLOWED guns to float around undetected.

Our guns won't be going anywhere. They can put restrictions on them, ban certain weapons til they are blue, but I'm one of the few gun owners that doesn't think good old Barry will ban guns completely.

I hope. :goggly:

Depends greatly on your individual state laws. Here in the northeast, unless you are law enforcement or former law enforcement then it's pretty tough to get a concealed permit.

From what I understand, in states like Texas, Utah, Nevada for example, it must be concealed (duh), and cannot be brought into schools or certain government buildings. But most that are concealed carriers will bring along their firearm during their day to day activities.

Concealed owners for the most part are obsessed with safety and aren't a bunch of nuts running around with shotguns strapped to their backs, haha.

-Joe

As far as I'm aware, you can get a concealed carry permit which allows you to take the gun outside the home as long as its not visible in public.

Edit: Ah, Joe clarified. :p
