DAMN YOU TECHNOLOGY! My job is now completely digitalised and computerised...and therefore no longer needs me to be done.

On one hand it sucks because now I have to find another job...possibly one that sucks...and until then I will have no money...

On the other hand...I'll be able to reclaim a semblance of a life as I wont have to work nightshifts 4 nights a week! woo!

I work(ed) (I have tonight to go, my job finishes tomorrow) for Rehame, which is a media monitoring agency.

My job was to get tomorrow's newspapers and scan them on these massive scanners into our systems and send them to melbourne, where the articles were clipped out and ran over with OCR software.

Now the overnight papers get delivered digitally from the publisher direct to Melbourne.

If you can do logos (or anything, really) you should check out DesignOutpost.com (they have a design team (which you can apply to join - see http://www.designoutpost.com/content/category/2/67/25/) and they submit designs to try and win jobs). Ya never know

My website used to have a shitload of artwork on it but I killed that ages ago. Now it's more a blog site that I'm really slack at updating...I also plan to put art back on it, but yeah...I'm slack. The only other place I have art is Deviantart and most of the stuff on there is old and crappy hehe.

In a turn of events, I was just offered a smaller amount of work with the same company, in a different role, which I will most likely take. Food on the table kinda thing if you know what I mean.

My old job was print reporting, the new one will be TV reporting. Which is basically reporting and summerising what is reported on the main metro TV news'.

How come you're talented and you're not working in a field related to your talent? Seems like a waste!

Because all of the jobs that are related to my talent always require a degree and/or multiple years of experience working in the industry.

I've tried studying creative arts twice and it just bores me shitless.

I could freelance more if I took the time and effort to whore myself out more and actually seek out jobs, but (until recently ie - before i lost my job) I had no time to do anything because it seemed like I was constantly working.

Now might be the time to try harder.
