Thank you! I have received similar responses from other sources too in the meantime. I have to wonder what's the point in not simply just having a master phantom switch for all inputs if it doesn't make a difference.
 
As long as the mic has a transformer on its output it will be fine with phantom power, ribbon mics included.

If a mic doesn't have that transformer, then the DC voltage sent to the mic from turning phantom power on will destroy the capsule. This is why you don't tend to see a master phantom power switch.
