I say yes to a Narrator. Being the Rhapsody fan I am, I would enjoy it if there was some low deep voice narrating a plot line in the new Odyssey album. I was thrilled when I listened to King of Terrors to hear a narrator. Some people find it a little cheesy..but I enjoy it greatly. Just my 2 cents..any other thoughts?

I don't like narrators either, because somewhat the flow of a song is being ruined for me by that.
The only narration I really liked anyway was "Orson Welles" on Manowar's "Defender".

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the voiceover thing in King Of Terrors was done by Sir Russell himself. Not bad, yet I have no idea why it does remind me of the narrator's voice in "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. ;)

I say a definite NO! I've got Rhapsodys 'Power of the Dragonflame' and I can safely say the narrator is terrible, he makes me burst into fits of laughter on every listen.

Yuk, no thanks. Spoken stuff on CDs is okay if used sparingly, but a constant running narration all through a CD condemns it to cheesehood more often than not.

The narrator in "Thriller" is the late Vincent Price, I think.

Yea... narrators generally tend to ruin songs in my opinion. Just look at the Rhapsody song "tears of a dying angel". It starts off freakin awsome, but then the last like 4 minutes of the song is just some bunghole talking and whining about stuff. It just sounds increadibly cheesy and lame. I think Rhapsody would generally be better off if they stopped doing that stuff. Another song where they over do it is in Gargoyles, angels of darkness. The song is wonderful and has some awsome instrementation, but they throw in all that stupid narration and it really takes away from the over all song. Im glad symphony X doesn't do this often, the part on King of Terrors was fine and I think it fit well, but narration would have screwed over the odyssey if they added more.

As much as I enjoy Rhapsody, I cringe everytime the narrator comes on. I think one of the reasons why I think their newest album is my favorite (other than the music and Fabio's performance) is that the narrator is only used on one song. Symphony X should stay away from such a thing. I will say that I think Russ' spoken word part on King of Terrors was nicely executed.

Ever listen to Stratovarius? Now THAT is bad pronounciation. For example: "I wunt do stay wid you."

Bah. That's bad.

Of course I've heard them, but I still think Timo is not as bad as Fabio. For example Dawn Of Victory:
"Fire is raging on the battlefield" and his version would be
"Fuyor is radging on de battellfilled"

Hey, don't nail him just because he speaks a different language. He's still an incredible singer in my book.

I'm not nailing him because he speaks different language. I just think his english is very poor. In fact, I think he should sing an entire record in Italian, because that song Lamento Eroico (sp?) was the best thing I've heard from him by far.
