European Power Metal vocalists,
especially German,
do have a terrible pronounciation most of the time indeed, that's right. I think, most of them want to sound english/american so bad, they
overdo it basically. What I cringe over the most, though, is the "V" "W" thing. When will they ever get to learn to pronouce that?
For me it's pretty much disturbing.
Also, ever notice that whenever German singers sing in English they kinda have an english accent? (or maybe this is just with Hansi and Blind Guardian cause he wants to sound more medieval?)
That strong English accent, yes! But in no way do they sound more medieval - I think it's just because the English accent is a lot
easier for them. On the other hand, the American accent is not really preferred anyway (I love it though, and people say that I have a very strong American accent myself, so the jokes are on me most of the time... - and I find it a lot easier to understand too.). Oh well, Germans and English language.
However, the thing with another language is, that, if it's not your native, it's always a bit difficult to speak (or, in this case sing) properly. I also think that you have to have a talent for foreign languages.
Someone said, that Timo Kotipelto had a bad pronounciation. Yes, actually he does, but not as bad as Fabio Lione.
The Scorpions, anyone? Oh boy...
