$490 return flight Toronto to Paris, my girlfriend and I might go for it, but we need to decide by the end of February and... fuck, so much schoolwork! No time to decide! :erk:

Hey! When , why , where , who etc..? :loco:

What I love most about these old Bloc countries finally getting involved is just how small Europe seems to have become. It really is The United States of Europe now. Airlines are cutting each other's throats to be the cheapest and the only winners so far seem to be the passengers. 10 years ago to go to Stockholm or wherever would have meant a flight more expensive than one to New York. Now, thanks to RyanAir, my last visit there cost the same as a peak-hour train ticket to central London from where I live (about 12 miles away). My ticket from Stockhom to Tampere after that was just $10 including tax!

So, my advise to anyone coming from the US would be to go to London or Frankfurt first, and then you should be able to hop on a cheap ticket to pretty much anywhere else you'd need to go after that.

What are you here for? Business or pleasure? Either way, i hope you'll have time for a beer or 10?

I'm seeing my folks. I'll be over for about 3 weeks in July/August, and yes, I'm always up for a beer or 10. You're still in Surbiton right? I'm just up the road in Wimbledon. Russell wants to go drinking too so we can do a meet up, heh.

I will definitely look into this sort of travel approach, as I've heard similar things from numerous people, but you have to understand, during the summer months, even the "old standby" destinations have gone through the roof.

(all prices from NYC-area airports)
July/August r/t to Berlin = $1000+
July/August r/t to Stockholm = $1100+
July/August r/t to London = $800+
July/August r/t to Frankfurt = $1000+
July/August r/t to Paris = $960+
July/August r/t to Rome = $1040+
July/August r/t to Amsterdam = $950+

Yeah, RT prices for Phoenix to Germany are running about $1100 at the moment.

Try waiting until after April to book flights for July/August. It seems like the airlines are currently running specials for flights thru April. So MAYBE they will run some summer specials after that. I have never paid more than $850 for a flight to Europe from Phoenix.

I got real lucky a couple weeks ago, I booked 2 flights, Phoenix to Frankfurt and Phoenix to Amsterdam, for March and April, and only paid $490 RT for each.

Check out www.condor.com, Condor Airlines from Germany. They have pretty cheap flights from Las Vegas to Frankfurt. Like $725 RT in August. They also fly from a couple cities in Florida and Canada.
