Iced Earth - Horror Show

I have finally found some things to like about this album (don't get me wrong, i don't like the album as a whole, i have just found a few cool things about it):

Jeckly and hyde, where the two mind-personalities are speaking to each other (you know, under the riff that was stolen from 'am i evil').

"You're not stronger than me...!!!!!"

"I AM you."

The start of 'Wolf', and althought it is semi-stolen from 'consumed' by control denied, it is still very cool.

ImHoTep is a cool song musically, but the lyrics are terrible.

First of all, i would like to get things straight: ImHoTep was the 'god' of medicine, knowledge and architecture. After death, he was generally regarded as a damigod. This has nothing to do with the story.

The story that 'IMHOTEP' is refering to is that of Isis and Osiris, where Osiris' brother seth killed him, and Isis embalmed Osiris with the help of Anubis, bringing him to life, where he would become the 'god of the dead'.

If someone wants to explain to me what 'ImHoTep' (the man) has to do with this, please tell me, because i don't recall him being part of it.

It's referring to the move The Mummy which mistakenly attached the name to the story. I think someone in Hollywood thought the name was cool or something. That error is one of the many reasons I hated the movie, btw.

Yeah, but why did IE use that name? You would assume that Schaffer would have done a bit of research...

He has used the right names apart from ImHoTep (and it is one-word, not hyphenated three words)

anyway: i don't like the album too and yes ImHoTep grows as i said in a previous thread. the lyrics are just redicilous! bah..



btw.: am i the only one that things that the introaccoustics of Keckyll and Hyde sounds like the beginning of last december??

Maybe they sound similar to you because they are both... Played on an acoustic!!

well....i'm waiting for other replies. i always hear barlow starting with "the howling winds blow..." when i listen to jeckyll and hyde....it sounds nearly the same! even if i am compare them they sound pretty equal!

Well, they were basing the album off old horror movies (I think the ImHoTep song was about the original The Mummy that came out like 60 years ago or so), so I would assume that he was using the name because people are more familiar with it. I love the album, personally; I think it's their best so far (and yes, I have heard them all). But that is my opinion and y'all obviously don't agree. My favorite is The Phantom Opera Ghost.

my fave ever would be Burnt Offerings (my gateway album) ...followed by Night of the Stormrider...then Iced Earth ( I love it musically...)...dark saga, something wicked, and horror show definately have memorable songs that will forever linger on in my head...but the albums as a whole don't hit me too hard...

phantom opera ghost is a great song...one of my favorite IE songs

Diary and Last December are my top two favorites...love and death i love it....

i have yet to purchase Horror Show, i will probably wait a good while before i pick it up

*I* have some things on ICED EARTH to post on ,,,,bUt im gonna do it later. They are NOT near one my favs, even though i have all their stuff but 2 cd's. WHat Im going to post on is all part of this MASTER PLAN that I wanted to tell you guys about, but i couldnt, but i will, not now, but soon.

Well, I said they werent near one of my fav bands. WHat i ment was, as a whole, they are not one of my................
There are 2 cd's by them that i like a lot. If you count AIA, thats 3.

Most of IE's albums have memorable songs, and awesome ideas, but as a whole, their -albums- fall flat on their faces.

Take Something Wicked... for example, there is some really awesome ideas and songs on this album, but as a whole, it is a really 'unfinished' cd. 'The coming curse' and 'burning times' are awesome songs, and there are numerous other good songs and ideas on the album, but the album as a whole falls flat on it's face.

Personally, i like the older stuff (Travel in Stygian!!!!!!!) like Burnt offerings, The dark saga and Night of the stormrider. (I listen to days of pergatory mostly, because the vocals on the first two cds were terrible...!)

Nevermore serve at the feet of the kings my friend (speaking of annihilating, annihilator are rather good too)

Nevermore are fucking great too though, theres no denying that, Ill never understand why CM didnt make an IE/Nevermore tour considering those are the 2 biggest bands on the label pretty much.

Didn't they do one about 3 years ago? They have old tour dates on the Iced Earth site and list a tour with Nevermore. Too bad I didn't know about either band then, they actually came to Salt Lake.

Yep they did tour together (I think 96ish) a while back, but now way more people know about them, its a shame its not going to happen now seeing as IE has left CM and Nevermore look like doing the same thing!
Unless they join the same label again of course, and they both should sign to sanctuary I think, they would be perfect for them. But ive digressed
