Yes, going from San Diego to Hollywood on a Friday is nightmarish, but I might have to give it a go.
I just hope it's not raining. Last year for the Epica/Insomnium show, it was raining on a Friday night and took us just over 4 hours from Rancho Bernardo to the House of Blues. Worth it to see Insomnium for the second night in a row, but it reminded me how frustrating it is to drive up to LA for shows.

Mid week. Maybe. Nice to see HW not opening. Much prefer if IE opened up for the new Sab tour though. Sabaton were great at PP but sucked opening for Accept.

No kidding. Almost worse is trying to get back to San Diego after the show, and ending up in some unforeseeable traffic jam at 3am when you're super tired.

??

I saw that tour 2 nights in a row and Sabaton just killed it live opening for Accept. Why did they suck according to you?

Only the singer and maybe 1 of the guitarists put forth any effort on stage. Now, this was before the split. Things might have improved. To PP quality though? The audience was bored where I was standing at Club Soda. Especially the guy who must have bought $100 of Sabaton merch.

Never seen someone so deflated.

Yeah - I don't get that about Sabaton. On the February tour this year, they played for maybe 75 people in Dallas on a Tuesday, and they put forth the same energy that they showed at PP and even on their live DVD.

Maybe the crowd at the venue just sucked and they fed off of that?

Slims is way too small a venue for that show. Wow. I'll be there and won't delay getting my tickets. Sabaton could probably sell that place out by themselves.

I was really, really, shocked that they booked this one at Slims considering the linup is like a heavyweight bout with great undercards. Club Red in Phoenix can hold over 600, and will likely sell out. Iced Earth and Symphony X played to a packed Marquee Theater, which holds 1200+

Anyway, gonna see if work will send me to Phoenix on May 1, and then catch both dates. :)

Surprised to see no Maryland dates. Generally they are my go-to if theres no show in NC. What the nuts. IE played in NC with Symphony X like a year ago to a great crowd, so im also surprised to see no Charlotte/Raleigh dates as well.

I said it before, anybody for a carpool from NC?

They're playing DC (technically West Springfield, VA) at Empire, formerly known as Jaxx.

I'm actually glad that they are playing Empire. A lot of metal acts have either been skipping DC altogether or playing other venues.

Empire is good that it's a bit closer to where I live and not in the the city itself.

They're playing in Springfield, VA, which is a much easier haul from NC. You should be able to make that in 4 hours.

I love going to shows at Empire. It's just a shame so many tours have bypassed it in favor of Baltimore since the new owners have taken over.
