Could have several meanings all of which work in a dt context, heh.

encoding oneself, ie hiding true self and thoughts etc behind a code/puzzle/lies. sounds like Character material, or maybe this is someone creating a Fictional self...

decoding oneself, like a cipher, the key to the code/puzzle, to unlock the true self. Removing the Fiction, maybe... (this is the most logical interpretation imo)

also of interest is that when I went to the effort of looking up cipher in the dictionary it mentioned zero, or being equal to nothing or of the value of nothing. Also sounds like dt material but somehow I doubt this was the intended meaning...
