If Mort Divine ruled the world

http://www.vice.com/en_ca/article/8...is-causing-problems-at-another-university-now
Teaching assistant Lindsay Shepherd is facing censure from her department because she showed two tutorial groups a year-old video clip of Jordan Peterson debating Nicholas Matte over the use of non-binary gender pronouns on an episode of The Agenda.

Specifically, Shepherd is being sanctioned because she failed to pre-emptively denounce Peterson’s views. According to Shepherd, her professors told her that a student had complained, and that presenting Peterson neutrally was comparable to presenting Adolf Hitler neutrally. Shepherd wasn’t sacked from her TA position, but her superiors are allegedly demanding that she submit all her lesson plans in advance, and allow them audit her classes at will.

This link has a portion of the audio that the TA secretly recorded when she was grilled for showing the Peterson video. I'm hoping more faculty start doing this so these disgusting authoritarian anti-education pieces of shit can be exposed.

if even the people who wrote this

For the record: Jordan Peterson is a transphobic YouTube crank with basically nothing interesting to say about free speech or gender expression, and who very obviously has no idea what any part of the phrase “post-modern neo-Marxist” means. He is a bad political and social thinker, and many of his ideas about gender roles are genuinely dangerous. (Tabatha Southey has already written his intellectual obituary by clocking him as “the stupid person’s idea of a smart person,” which is immediately obvious to anyone who listens to his awful honking voice for more than thirty seconds.)

are on his side you know the universities are bad lol

nah

even within the leftist world there are plenty of garbo fucking brocialists who deserve to be put to the wall fwwi even if they share some things

Well I agree with Dak myself and Peterson isn't necessarily someone who represented my worldview, he changed my mind on a few things and introduced a few more things to me. The man is genuinely really fucking intelligent as well, as in you could measure it.

But I'm not surprised that you as a communist would like to put some in-group wrongthinkers against the wall. Classical communist.

hard to say someone is so intelligent yet so blinded by the supposed impact of Christianity. I think he suggested that the Bible was the first law code which was insane

Not hard at all, many genius-level individuals held wacky, irrational beliefs.
I don't buy your characterization of him anyway and you've demonstrated multiple times that anything even slightly related to Christianity triggers you. You have a blatant inability to judge its influence in something or on someone rationally.

I think he suggested that the Bible was the first law code which was insane

You think? How about the source?

the best part is when you talk about him you get incredibly confrontational. If you've listened to the 2 Sam Harris' podcasts with him and cannot tell that his whole worldview is obstructed by his positive view of Christianity then i'm not sure what to say.

I said 'think,' as I have little interest in digging around clips/podcasts to find him say it. The two Harris podcasts are more than enough to make me realize what he is and I listened to him on the Jocko podcast last week and nothing made me think i'm missing some great things coming out of him

you only say this because he fits your world view

No, I did it based on delivery and academic position and bell-curves. You're probably smarter than ~60 percent of persons. I can do that based on posts. Doesn't mean you're right about any given thing.

@rms Your prejudice against religion appreciation is showing. Peterson isn't at all saying people need to convert. He's recognizing empirical positive aspects of a religion in comparison with the historical options.

By arguing that Christianity is inherently positive implies that all should be Christian's. And his prose on Christianity is also compared to atheists

Got nothing against religion and to deny its positive effects in society / human development is something I nor anyone intelligent would do. But he goes farther than that and it's not convincing. Dude couldn't even comprehend the temporally different definitions of truth which baffles me.

Someone post a video of Peterson at his absolute best, I don't hate the guy or anything but don't really get the hype tbh beyond being the right's academic bannerman

Positive in the situation/comparatively? Without that acknowledgment, there is no "best". You're just shallow in religious regard.

It's a subjective question. Your estimation of his great intellect is apparently based on your own observations of watching him talk, so it should be effortless to find the talks that most contributed to your opinion on said intellect.

Confrontational? I'm like this pretty much all the time about any topic. It's actually you that seems to change emotionally whenever he's brought up, with your dismissive, sourceless comments.

If you're sensing anything it's simply my own dismissiveness towards you because anytime you talk about him it's always some lazy bullshit that you yourself can't even be bothered to back up.

 if you listen to him on Sam Harris' podcast and think he's being intelligent AND not severely hamstrung by his faith in Christianity, nothing to tell you. I'll wait and see if anything is exciting in response to HBB from you or Dak

If I were to recommend any video of his to anybody it would probably be his first interview with Joe Rogan.

Second recommendation would be this one.

I don't think he is hamstrung by his faith in Christianity, the fact that you would call it a faith to begin with when he doesn't believe in the faith-based, miraculous, biblical literalist form of Christianity just proves how gimped out your view of him is.

He doesn't believe in a literal Jesus for example, he believes that Jesus is an archetype constructed from what all religions have always valued in their heroes, something like that. He constantly cites Marduk, Horus and other religious figures to buttress his points etc.
