Hi,

I went to the studio with my band before christmas to record a 4 track CD, and we're really dissapointed with the results! Having spent a lot of money on the studio, the tracks just sound like complete crap and there just really not what were looking for at all. The studio don't want to help at all now they've got our money, but I've managed to get hold of the mixing files.

I really don't know much at all about mixing and don't really have any of the plugins/software to make it sound good. As we've spend a lot on the studio already, can't really afford the software or the time to learn how to use it.

Is there anyone on here who would be willing to have a go at mixing it? I'm open to offers on prices, it'l be for 4 tracks. I can post the mp3s we got from the studio which sounds like crap, and then if you want to mix it I can supply the individual WAV files. ( It was recorded in Cubase but I can export it to Pro tools format or Sonar or OMF).

Some of the vocals will need a little bit of autotune I think. It's real drums with just mic'd amps (JCM mic'd with an SM57 and double tracked with the same amp through a vox cab 2x12). The bass is just put through a DI box into the computer.

We play screamo/post hardcore but go for a more metal sound on the guitars/drums/bass. We were going for a sound like the band 'A Day to Remember'.

If anyone can help please post here or email me at uppercrustfishhook@gmail.com

Thanks in advance

Best thing you can do is just get a Dropbox account or Megaupload or similar and zip all of the WAV files and put the zip on there. This will ensure that anyone can grab them and mix it, they can post a sample and you can pick somebody to do the whole thing. Make sure the WAV files are in their own folders, like Song1, Song2, etc. so it's all organized.

We all enjoy a mix project, even if we don't get picked to do it. Practice is always welcome :)

I'm up for it. I charge 30eur per song for mixing (if the songs are under 5 minutes in length) and can do a sample if you send me the tracks or upload them here. You can mail me at jarkko@tainted-studio.com for further details.

You can also do the same as Control State did: post the tracks of one song here for people to mix and choose the person whose mix you liked the best :)

Ok thanks :) I'll start doing that now and il post the links when its done uploading

Ok I've uploaded the WAV tracks:

There just raw tracks from the studio with no effects processed or anything. All the tracks start and end the same point so you can just drop them in the mixing program or whatever.

The tempo for the song is 210 just in case you need it...

I've hosted them on my friends server (excuse the domain name, it's his joke :p)

WAV Tracks for the song

Original MP3 of the song (mixed badly by the studio we went to):

The reasons that we didnt like the original MP3 was that it sounded too tinny and the drums sound like theyre played down a phone. The guitars are really tame, and the bass isnt really there. other than that the vocals sound ok though they could do with a bit of autotune and some plugins in places to make them a bit less 'empty'.

Reference track: The kind of thing we're after:

The band we most probably try to sound like is a day to remember, though it is slightly different, thats the kind of sound we were aiming for.
Go to : http://www.purevolume.com/adaytoremember and listen to 'Fast Forward to 2012'

I know it won't sound exactly like the reference track because thats label quality but thats the basic idea.

If anyone who wants to mix it can post a test track or part of a test track here that would be great so we can listen to it. If we like it we can discuss prices and do the whole thing. It's 4 tracks in total (3 x 3mins, 1 x 5mins). For the final mixes, I can provide the original cubase files if neccessary.

My email address is uppercrustfishhook@gmail.com if you have any questions or post here

Thanks so much in advance :)

Just downloaded it, will mix tomorrow.

Is it just me or do the vocals have autotune on them already? Just listened to a short clip.. sounds like autotune to me. Plus some distortion already.
