A friend of mine left an article on my facebook recently about a Hasidic Doom Metal band called Deveykus. They fuse Ashkenazi Jewish music (klezmer) with Sleep-like riffs. Here's the article, where the frontman Dan Blacksberg talks about niguim, Hasidic wordless melodies, and how they help to uplift spirits when repeated over and over just like in Doom.
