interview where Mikael says Opeth doesn't blast

I'm having a discussion with this guy who keeps talking about Opeth's blast beats, and I'm trying to straighten the guy out in a nice way. I remember reading an interview with Mikael where he's talking about how they aren't a typical death metal band, and one of the examples he gives is that they don't play blast beats. I searched for this interview, but was unable to find it. Can someone link it, please? I would love to quote it to this guy - I doubt he would argue with Mikael about it.

I don't think I can recall any blast beats on thier records... that interview sounds familiar but I can't find it either

The closest thing that Opeth has to a blastbeat is near the Blackwater Park ending, at about 10:11. Still, it isn't really a blastbeat, but I don't think it would do Opeth's music any good anyway. Wonder if they'll use it on the new 'bordering to BM' record, but I doubt it.

The intro of Emperor's 'Thorns on my Grave' is a perfect example. Generally, it's when the drummer is doublekicking furiously and blasting with the snare every 2nd kick, and I think they put the hi-hat into it too. Reffer to alot of generic death metal acts, and alot of black metal.

He played a really fast one over here. Mike kept saying 'play faster, drummer', and he ended up going with an insane blast. So when he's not playing with those cymbals, I know what else he practices.

To play blastbeats you just alternate right and left hand as fast as the music calls for. See Morbid Angel, Nile, etc.

false....many blast beats involve no double bass kicking.

a blast beat is primarily the blasting snare and high hat or cymbal of desired usage.
