Best metal instrumentals?
Some obvious ones would be
Orion- Metallica
Call Of Ktulu- Metallica
Voice Of The Soul- Death

They don't really have to have a metal sound, but can be acoustic, on piano, etc. I enjoy instrumentals every now and then. Especially the beautiful ones. It shows metal fans have a soft side. (Or maybe that's just me.)

Iron Maiden's Genghis Khan is one of the most epic, aggressive, and thrashingest things I've heard from its time.

Katatonia - Elohim Meth
Dead Congregation - Martyrdoom
Judas Priest - Prelude
The two instrumentals in Beyond the Wandering Moon

But yea if you want non-metal, there's entire genres of the stuff you want.

"Tomhet" by Burzum stands out to me as the most stunning example of an instrumental from a metal act, since it proves that keyboards allow for more than just a cheesy interlude.

Black Sabbath had some memorable instrumental parts in medleys and segues as well.

The Faceless has a tight instrumental actually

Yeah Akeldama is a good one.

Iron Maiden - Transylvania
Dream Theater - Overture 1928
Obscura - Orbital Elements
Megadeth - Dialectic Chaos
Megadeth - In the Lungs of Hell
Black Sabbath - Rat Salad
Decrepit Birth - Sea of Memories
Cannibal Corpse - Infinite Misery
Cannibal Corpse - Relentless Beating
In Flames - Wayfaerer
Death - Cosmic Sea
Dark Tranquillity - Ex Nihilo
Watain - Lawless Darkness
Heathen - Guitarmony
Dream Theater - The Dance of Eternity
Testament - Confusion Fusion
Testament - Musical Death (A Dirge)

So many.
