iOS4 is Live

A lot of developers have already been updating their apps to be iOS4 compatible (i.e. making use of the multi-tasking mainly, apparently it's a simple thing but has to be done).
There are certainly apps being made specifically to make use of iOS4. I can imagine many developers have been waiting for some of the new features to see what is possible with multi-tasking now available, not to mention game developers looking to make use of the new gyroscope feature of the iPhone 4, etc.

One thing that came to mind last night....Why dont we have a sneap forum app? With all the developers and shit floating around here i'm honeslty surprised it hasnt been done yet. Shit, even gearslutz has an app

Haha, sounds good to me.
Just took a peek at the GearSlutz app. Not too crazy, seems to be a better way to browse and reply on forums compared to the fun I have at times doing it in the Safari browser on the phone.
I also took a peek at what it takes to make an app for the iPhone. :zombie:

Yeah it takes a whole lot lol me and my buddy were gonna do one for his band and after researching it I changed my mind. But yeh i hate going through the forum on my phone i usually just wait until im home and use my mac.

jailbreak enables multitasking and wallpaper on 3G. although multitasking doesn't really "work" right now because apps haven't been updated with the API yet so right now it's basically just quick app switching

oh dear, do vBulletin boards even have an API that we can use? that ultimatemetal even allows?
i doubt either one of those, which leaves you with writing your own html parser (which trust me is not fun), and then finding a lot of people that use it, which means making it work on all vBulletin boards, which will be a whole world of pain..

Haven't checked out this Gearslutz one, but I'd get in contact with its creator (Gearslutz is vBulletin isn't it?).
New OS is all cool, but is there a way to play video in the background? I sometimes just want to listen to the audio of a video, and do other stuff. Can't do that atm (or can't figure out how).

Hate this new OS. The multitasking is pathetic at best and shouldn't even be called multitasking since it doesn't actually perform any 2 tasks at once. Wish I could figure out how to disable the wallpaper as well, I just want my black background back behind my apps...

Not to be a dick, but I cant wait to see how james trys to justify this, will probably be another "battery" excuse like the flash argument.
When will you people realize the iPhone design and thought process are just flawed. There is nothing wrong with their hardware (other then the 4g right now with the antenna issue) but their OS is just dastardly inferior to other options that are on the market.
This is is not an "I hate apple" thing. Its an "I hate iPhone" thing so dont get all uppity on your horse, and try and get on my case for stating a fact. There will always be flaws with the iPhone cause Mr. Jobs is a fucking tool that doesnt think anything through from start to finish.
I have been playing with the 3GS with iOS4 on it for 2 days now, and I can assure you the phone DOES NOT multitask in the trues sense of "multi-tasking". Granted it does do "more things at once" then it used to, but thats about it.
But if you guys like it that was, thats on you.
seems to be doing true multi-taking for me just fine on apps that have updated themselves properly for 4 already.
if you want a black background, just make a black background.... you know what? here... i made one for you:
just grab it, stick it in your photos on your phone.. choose it as your background... done.
