iOS4 is Live

Not to be a dick, but I cant wait to see how james trys to justify this, will probably be another "battery" excuse like the flash argument.

When will you people realize the iPhone design and thought process are just flawed. There is nothing wrong with their hardware (other then the 4g right now with the antenna issue) but their OS is just dastardly inferior to other options that are on the market.

This is is not an "I hate apple" thing. Its an "I hate iPhone" thing so dont get all uppity on your horse, and try and get on my case for stating a fact. There will always be flaws with the iPhone cause Mr. Jobs is a fucking tool that doesnt think anything through from start to finish.

I have been playing with the 3GS with iOS4 on it for 2 days now, and I can assure you the phone DOES NOT multitask in the trues sense of "multi-tasking". Granted it does do "more things at once" then it used to, but thats about it.

But if you guys like it that was, thats on you.

well.. you ARE being a dick, and i don't need to justify it. i don't care to justify it. works with some of my apps, not with others... pisses me off when it doesn't work with some of them.. but so far i've only noticed it on apps that haven't updated for iOS4 yet.

it does NOT piss me off enough to switch to Android or any other phone. i'm still quite happy, and the functionality has improved with 4, and there's zero reason to believe that apple won't continue to improve it with further updates, as they have everything else about the phone since day one.

so far, for me and the apps i use, it seems largely a problem that app developers need to address by updating their apps to take full advantage of the new IOS4 shit.

and i don't find the design or thought process flawed at ALL.. it's a great system that is a work-in-progress... exactly as ANDROID is... because Android is FAR from perfect. all my friends who have them bitch about different shit about them all the damned time.

and talk about people "uppity on their horse"... pretty much sounds like YOU right now my friend.

and it seems that apple/jobs does a WAAAY better job of "thinking things through from start to finish" than most other tech companies... it's how they got to where they are, and why they've made so many innovations in the first place... but no, everything has to be absolutely perfect from the get-go for you, apparently, if it comes from apple... other companies are excused it seems, and allowed to make gradual improvements to their new shit over time... never heard you complain about that kind of normal process so exaggeratedly with any other company in the business as i read you on here doing it about Apple. you clearly DO have some issue.

I find it hilarious when people say the iPhone OS are flawed, etc. This one is brand new people - there are obviously still some kinks to be worked out. But as far as my 3GS goes, there is no better OS out there, or a better interface for a smartphone IMO. It's so idiot proof and efficient it's not even funny! My friend just got the Droid and I hated it after 5 seconds. Super slow and not user friendly at all. Cumbersome as fuckkkk.

thank you J.

another voice of reason.

Haha thanks for the background Murph ;)

I still don't think it truly multitasks. So Apple didn't update their own Safari app or their YouTube app for iOS 4? I read a list of stuff that was actually added as far as multitasking goes and it's a small list, most notably including support to continue playing audio and support to save the application state. It effectively just pauses an application, doesn't actually seem to run them. Like I said, safari will pause while loading a weboage if I change apps. If it supported multitasking I would expect safari to continue to load webpages in the background. Same with YouTube, you have to have it displaying for it to continue loading the video.

Also the system for navigating through multiple open apps is pretty bad. It displays 4 apps at once but keeps every single app you ever open in there. So it is actually significantly faster to just run open apps by launching them from the home screen which displays 16 apps at a time so you don't have to page through as many icons. The old option to choose what double tapping the home button did was much more usable than having it open the multitasking list which as I've explained is inherently useless :/ I dunno I'm not very impressed.

One day my friend you will see the light. I am happy you like your phone, but sometimes the grass is greener ;) I still love you though :P
