Right so I'm looking for some high quality (please only reccommend the 'elite' not just the 'good' bands) Irish, Scottish, Gaelic, and European (think Russian, Eastern Europe, and of course Scandinavia) folk music.

Thanks.

Fejd is an amazing scandinavian folk band.
Lunasa is a pretty solid Celtic band
Gaelic Storm
Altan
The Dubliners seem to be pretty popular

that's all I can think of now

if we're gonna suggest Tenhi, then don't forget their side project: Harmaa

(which in my opinion is better than Tenhi...well maybe not)

You might know Clannad ( siblings of Enya)Their earlier album are pure folk
Ehm.. and the Pogues, irish folk rock. But maybe your not looking for less mainstream stuff.
Lisa Ekdahl from Sweden has a folky touch www.myspace.com/ekdahllisa
I highly recommend Eivör from the Faero Islands www.myspace.com/eivorpalsdottir
Then there is the finnish screaming choir Hujtajat( i think that's the name), 20 stout men screaming load, just their layered voices

I´m really interesting in folk music too but I don't know where to start
Gjallarhorn sounds good and so does Gaelic storm
