I have to say this setlist is way better than the 2006 setlist.

I have to disagree. I thought playing the entire album was a great idea. When I see the band, what I want to see live is stuff they haven't played - not the same old songs played for the thousandth time. For the record, the band has played all those "classic tracks" at least a thousand times except FOTD and The Evil That Men Do. The song Iron Maiden has been played about two-thousand times.

I'd much rather see them play some variety off the old catalogue each tour. You can take the "Holy Trinity" from NOTB (Hallowed, RTTH, NOTB) and replace that with The Prisoner, which is popular among fans and hasn't been overplayed. I'd happily take Where Eagles Dare over the Trooper, and Purgatory and Drifter over Wrathchild. 2 Minutes to Midnight should be replaced by Flash of the Blade now that the band has three guitarists to play all three guitar parts of that song. It also wouldn't hurt to play a Blaze tune or two - maybe Futureal, Man on the Edge, or the Clansman.

The fact is that Maiden has so many great tunes to choose from for each tour, but they go back to the same overplayed classics over and over again.

I do agree with you about them playing the same classics. They do need to play different classics.

Trooper - Replaced with To Tame a Land or Flight of Icarus
Fear of the dark - Replaced with Wasting Love or Afraid to Shoot Strangers
The number of the beast - Replaced with Children of the Damned
Run to the hills
Iron Maiden - Repaced with Phantom of the Opera or Remember Tomorrow

Encore:
2 minutes to midnight - Replaced with Powerslave or Rime of the Ancient Mariner
The evil that men do - Replaced with Infinite Dreams
Hallowed be the name

I would also like for them to play Alexander the Great or wouldn't mind hearing them play The Angel and the Gambler or Blood On The World's Hands with Bruce.

I like that proposed set list. In fact, I pretty much like any set list out of the ordinary. They could play just my least favorite songs and I'd be thrilled as long as they were all songs not played live ever or were only played for a tour or two.

yeah that SO sucked when they played l.a. ozzfest and were playing phantom and murders - probably my last chance to hear the old school stuff live - and the best parts were cut out of the show cuz of you know who
i think the u.k. fans probably have the strongest argument for more variety cuz IM plays there more. i'm happy with the holy trinity  hey, when does the follow up to early days come out? perhaps they'll tour in support of that.

Bruce mentioned during the AMOLAD tour that they'll be doing the next nostalgia section after the early days sometime in 2008. I can't wait! I know it's going to be full of the top songs from whatever section they play (I'm guessing Powerslave, SIT, and SSOASS), but I am hoping for a few overlooked gems.

I'm just hoping they play Infinite Dreams on the Golden Years tour - I will die of happiness!!! :worship:
I'm just looking forward to a tour where there will be no more NOTB tracks, no Trooper and no Wrathchild. All are great songs, but I just want to see some variety.

However, I'm betting that they'll do it like a normal tour and have mostly that period with 3-5 tracks from Early Days for the encore.

Didja see the new tee for Bangalore in Maiden's store ??? DEREK!!!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Looking to pick one up off ebay. :kickass:

I guess I just am more happy to actually see them that I could care less what they play. Like Jenna, I was disappointed that they were leaving the classics off of the AMOLAD tour, but when I was there and they started playing it, all of that disappointment vanished in a heartbeat.

That being said, I would love it if they mixed up their setlists more often; hell, do what Joe Satriani does before he goes out on tour and make a master list of songs, and leave it up to the fans to vote on as to what they want to hear and see.

I thought for the Early days tour, they were going to play tracks from the first four albums only... at least thats what I heard.... and when does that damn DVD come out, anyway??

I have a pro shot show from Sweden with the entire Early Days set...really killer....excuse the pun...Maybe they'll put out an Early Days/AMOLAD tours combo DVD...that would be nice.
