I found one on craigslist for $500. Just wonder if any of you guy buy it recently and how much it cost you.

I've seen them rise to that price lately so I'd say it's an appropriate price.
Personally,I'd talk to the guy and see if I could lower the price before buying to like around $350-450.

I came close to spending that much, but then I get pissed off when I hear of people getting em for like 150$ and don't end up getting one lol. I wonder if LJ is ever gonna finish that GP1000 pedal.

GP-1000 pedal?
How is a PEDAL (and especially at the costs he has for the XLS-1000 for example, 900$) comparable to a tube preamp?

I mean, there's not even tubes in the pedal (like in AMTs Freak Guitar, wich costs a lot less, and is also perfect for pre-amp).

So if you were to buy the pedal, a cab and a power amp - atleast the power amp would have to be tube, to get that tuby sound?

So the problem would be, a tube power amp is not cheap. Not at all.

it's like 1200+$ power amp, 900$ pedal, and a cab good cab 519$ (Laney cab)= 2619$ for a setup...with a pedal as preamp.
(I don't know if anyone has experience with this)

Now if you were to get a solid state preamp (rocktron for example) it would be more like 500+500+pedal=900=1900$ - wich is a more reasonable price to me, if you consider you get a GOOD sound.

If that doesn't work, might as well go with a good head and cab, if you not that amount of volume.

also (I'm not really into this), could you use a preamp (say the Lee Jackson pedal) at a tube combo, and use it as a preamp, together with the tube combos power amp?
