i generally just use liberal logic as counterpoint/devil's advocate for non-liberals who, more often than not, are even more lacking in perspective (not to mention empathy)
Probably true, though I think true conservatives/libertarians often are perceived as lacking in empathy, when its simply their view that government shouldn't be the solution and these issues (that they may in fact be empathetic about) should simply be outside of the purview of government, regardless of the group. IE neither corporations/rich OR poor should be getting handouts or special treatment. The role of the government is to simply maintain basic law (patents, anti-trusts, contracts enforcement, etc), order, transportation, national defense and should be involved in little else. This view shits all over both modern Republican and Democratic policy but I feel generally pushes humanity just a little closer back to survival of the fittest where modern corruption can play less of a role and good ideas and policies can flourish.
But yeah, personally I'm definitely lacking in empathy. Do no harm and do no good outside of friends/family.
