No one was prepared for an album like this, being so equally brutal and beautiful in such a unique way. Not to mention being one of the only BM albums to get away with such brutality hidden behind such a beautiful album cover. How many bands have come out with such a strong and mature first record right from the beginning?
Is this some attempt to be an "old school" Opeth fan? That the older the album, the better? that anything new is "trendy" and "sold out".Wolff said:Thoughts?
Sadpoet said:Orchid is fucking brilliant and beautiful, and I love the way the drums and bass sound. I love that old-schoolish/low quality/garage sound, and I think "Orchid" showcases that sound very well. I notice alot of people don't like that low-quality/"poor" production sound. To me, it's not low quality or poor-sounding, because I love it so much. But it is how that particular production (sound) is described. Now I'm just rambling....
But yes, I would say Orchid is defenitely up there, alongside "My Arms Your Hearse" and "Ghost Reveries".
