Just curious, because it seems like pretty much any band/genre I've ever liked is regarded by most people on this board as "horrible" or "sucks" or "fags". Often the bands names are turned into puns to reflect the nature of their apparent suckage or faggotry (i.e. "Blowpeth").

Am I right in assuming that a band's tr00ness is inversely proportional to their visibility? You know, the more records they sell, the more they suck.

Please help, I would like to know what the good metal is so I can be tr00 too. Because I want to be all awesome and nonconformist just like you guys.

:)

bout damn time someone posted something like this.
kudos to you :kickass:

Don't be troo. It's like a disease that wil consume and soon you'll be yelling faggotry at every instance of accessibility and verse-chorus occurrence in a metal song. Just don't.

Not all "famous" metal sucks. But many do.
Not all "obscure" metal are tr00. But quite often, they are.

The more they suck, the more records they sell. Why? Because the current popular culture is a faggothole of epic proportions. Care more about what you LIKE rather than what impressions it leaves on people.

Shut the fuck up.

Ah yes, you're right.

I will now go do something appropriately "metal" to make up for this. Sacrifice a goat while shitting on a Bible or something. :D

and don't forget to run naked through the forest in corpse paint screaming "DEATH TO FALSE METAL!" afterwards.... otherwise the ceremony won't work... trust me

So, if I understand, I am allowed to like a band until they start selling more than 14 copies of their album. At that point, they begin to suck and go down the "faggothole".

This is all very educational. At this rate I'll be tr00 in no time!!!

its safest to like bands that haven't even recorded anything but just look fucking grim... that way they haven't sold any albums... fuck 14 copies that's hop topic mallcore shit

Yeah, we're a pretty great community, but faggots do have a problem with being able to respect bands.

A lot of the time, a band gets popular because they're freaking amazing and a lot of people can see that. Bands like The Beatles and Pink Floyd had chart success for all the shit they did, but that doesn't make them any less great. I know a lot of people claim that they don't care if a band is popular, they don't like them just based on the music. But if that's true then you wouldn't feel the need to disrespect them so much. I don't see anybody going around saying "Pfft, you like Nokturnal Gaytum? Fag."

I mean, as much as people pretend like metal is mainstream... it's fucking not. Not even Avenged Sevenfold gets play on a top 40 radio station. And even if we count the few visible metal bands like A7X out of the mix, the rest are still underground. Calling a band like Lamb of God or Despised Icon mainstream doesn't make sense when 80% of the world's population will say "what the fuck, turn this demonic NOISE off!" if you play them any song those bands have ever done. Most people will still say that about Slipknot. A lot of people still say that to me when Rob Zombie is playing. Some of these bands do have chart success, but that doesn't change the fact that the majority of music consumers don't even consider anything with harsh vocals to be music.

I actually aagree with that. What I've become to despise most of all among purists are those double standards.A certain band with a cult status can be aesthetically similar to a popular band, and yet the latter will be trashed all over the place, whilst the former gets pointlessly glorified. This is just stupid.
