No, Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat, 1995/6, old self released Slipknot album, a few songs sound alike.I think it's strange they change from nu-metal to this (whatever they are considered now) as soon as metalcore/hardcore and metal are getting more mainstream success.
Ironic?
We put images or labels on everything especially on things that are foreign to us. Often we judge everything based on it before we even bother to actually look into it. But it's a problem when a band concentrates on their image instead of concentrating on music itself. Even though I like Slipknot it's obvious they try too hard to show how angry and scary they are.Find a a young band, all decent looking or whatever, a band. They'll probably do well right? Put masks on them and see how far thier looks can take them.
Image is nothing, it's about the music, An anti-image turns into an image however, you can't excape images.
Black Metal bands look just as silly, if not moreso with Corpse paint and swords.

I'm already a Slipknot fan, but this is easily thier best release. Duality isn't that good of a song compared to the rest. I'm sick of the same Death metal bands or black metal bands sounding alike, I'm sick of nu metal bands sounding alike, and American metal bands sounding alike, Slipknot have broke away from every group in this album, You can't put it into one thing because it isn't one thing.
It has typical Slipknot tracks, Acoustics, and new Slipknot. The typical would be more like Duality, Acoustics Circle, Vermillion, the rest are the new Slipknot, solos or not.
The drumming is just as good as most metal bands out there, at times even better, Marching drums beat it all. The solos aren't spectacular, but they aren't mean to be, They don't need them to be. It would sound daft.
Overall, this album is worth a listen even if you don't like Slipknot, it might just change your opinion on the band. However, they will not take off the masks while in Slipknot, because it wouldn't be Slipknot without that.
They aren't trying to be "extreme". If they where they would have taken off the masks, jumpsuits, kicked out 4 members and say they are a real metal band. That's goes against the point of Slipknot.

the 2 percussionists, the DJ, and the sampler are the lesser members of the band. there are a lot of songs where they don't even play. I'm not even sure why they even get credit as members of the band rather than just guest musicians or contributers. Perhaps they play a part the songwriting process?High On Maiden said:Do some of them like the auxiliiary drum hitter twat actually contribute their fair share to the band?
And my view on Sarcasm has been changed since your so good at it, or is that ignorance.Oh golly your right! My whole perception of the band has been changed by your ever abundant knowledge of music as a whole. I'm heading down to the nearest wal-mart so I can purchase this gem right now! See ya maggots later!
P.S Corey's so kewl \m/
Such as ? Give me an example since, obviously, everyone should listen to the same music.shut up faggot and do yourself a favor and listen to good music
Yes, everyone should listen to the same music, since about 0.5% of the population are into extreme metal, we're realy making an impact.Stand-Ablaze said:Such as ? Give me an example since, obviously, everyone should listen to the same music.
They DO need the 9 members, it shouldn't be Slipknot without it, they would the average every day band, what's the point in that?
I kind of agree. Though I am not a Slipknot fan, I don't see why so many metalheads have such hatred for the band. There is music that is far worse. I hate rap and pop-punk, but not Slipknot; I'd much rather hear Slipknot than Snoop Dogg any day.BlessedAreTheSick said:There's nothing wrong with diversity my friend. I grew up listening to nothing but death metal and grindcore, and still enjoy it and many other forms of music today, Cryptopsy or Coldplay, there's nothing wrong with being open minded. Good music is not exclusive to the extreme genre, it only happens to be my favorite genre.
I've always felt Slipknot has gotten an unfair rep. The mask thing, the jumpsuits, the 'maggots', they all detract from the most important thing - the music, which I feel is worth listening to.
And with attitudes most extreme metal fans have, not much more than 0.5% of the population are going to be listening to metal anytime soon either.Yes, everyone should listen to the same music, since about 0.5% of the population are into extreme metal, we're realy making an impact.
And at the end of the day, Slipknot are just an average, every day band. They certainly arent anything special. The only reason they sell as many albums is because of their gimmicks.

That's one of the crappiest analogies i've ever read. Only I can write worse.AllWithinMyMonster said:Lifesucks you saying you rather listen to slipknot than snoop dog is like saying you rather be ran over by a hummer as oppose to having your nuts in a vicegrip. Both painful experiences...Just one is more painful than the other. Slipknot fucking blows! The End
