Jack Daniels appreciation thread

I must be missing something with Maker's Mark - I bought a fifth back in September, and it took me like 3 months to finish it. It really wasn't very good at all; super bitey, a little bitter, didn't seem to go down well. It mixed really well with coke, but on the rocks and in an old-fashioned I really prefer Beam or JD.

Just traded my Eko Super Junior A organ for a bottle of JD. One of the best trades ever. Although I must say we had some good times together:

I've never gotten the taste for JD, either single or blended! its just to harsh!

I doubt you can get it state side but if you can try some Glenlivet 18 year, its really smooth and has a great taste!

+1, maybe the most disgusting liquid in the world.

also +1, hate JD. worst hangover ever: white russian as well as absinth. both no good choice in higher quantities.

I prefer canadian, irish and scottish whisk(e)y... good choice for getting drunk is always laphroaig, not that expensive and really tasty!

Is the 18 vastly better/different from the standard Glenlivet? I bought a bottle last month and I haven't touched much it if, if I'm honest - I might not be a huge fan of scotch (generally big into bourbon), but the flavor is just kind of bland and boring to me.

On another note, this has been treating me incredibly well for the last 2 weeks:

I wouldn't say its vastly superior to the 12year but its more refined in taste and smoother, I did the tour at there distillery the other year! interesting stuff! However when you compare it to some cheap 5 year blended stuff its a whole different kettle of fish!

I might try and get some Wild Turkey as i'm almost certain ive seen it at my local shop.

yeah ive been wanting to try some i just finished a 18yr glenfiddich but i hear the 18yr glenlivet has a bit more complexity and fuck i cant get good scotch anywhere.

must say, I'm a Jameson guy and as short-sighted as I am I rarely try something else.
JD always struck me as the coca cola of the whiskeies.

This weekend I noticed my jamesson didnt taste as it should have ......turned out I had sinned that night for the first time in my life...
The corporations ripped my soul right out of my asshole.

A tasty experience though

Correct me if im wrong, but isn't Jameson a Single Malt? Well, JD is a bourbon. ;)

Anyways, the similarities between Jack and Jameson are about the same as drinking Coke and Gasoline(JD being the gasoline.).

Yeh, im fairly new to whiskey and Mr. generous barguy gave me a JD instead of Jam. He tought that that was what I drank.

jd +1 ( gotta keep the colonisation and economy running right ? ;) )
