How did I forget to mention John Zorn. I love heaps of his stuff. While it's not strictly Jazz, he has a fair bit of Avantgarde Jazz, under the name Bar Kokhba Sextet for example. He has done music under his own name and various others, but under Bar Kokhba Sextet their new album for example "Lucifer: Book of Angels Volume 10" is one of the best of 08 so far iyam.
