Just got permission to talk about this online
I am happy to announce that I will be producing/engineering/mixing the record! We begin drum tracking in Seattle on August 23 at Fastback Studios, which is a really great studio that I often work out of when tracking drums. Some of you may remember that this is also the studio where the 7 Horns 7 Eyes drums were recorded.
The rest of the tracking will be done in the comfort of Jeff's home; I'll be lugging my computer, the Opals, and other cool pieces of gear over there, and taking over for a few weeks!
Oh yeah, and we thought it might be cool to hire a really good drummer. Has anyone heard of a guy named Dirk Verbeuren?
Of course I'll try to document as much of the process as possible, without it getting in the way of actually working on the album... We might try to put together a few video blogs as well.
