Jeff Loomis - new album (2011)

Don't forget to share those axe-fx patches with us, that way we can all sound just as good as Jeff! :loco:

All kidding aside, I hope you would consider tracking at least some of the guitar parts (solo's) with a mic'd up amp. There just seems to be a certain interaction between the player/guitar/amp that can yield some magical results sometimes. I've never used an Axe-fx personally, but I have used a few amp simulators before. Even when re-amped, they seem to lack a certain character that I think is developed when tracking with a mic'd amp. This may not be an issue with the Axe-fx though, but it might be something to consider. Thats just my 2 cents.

Congrats, and I hope you have lots of fun! I'm going to go back to editing shitty musicians.:puke:

Did you turn off the Internet for two months?
WTF cause I did

Anyways, that's awesome news cause I found his album to be lacking production wise. It had some nice flavour, but overall I was not too found of its tone. Give it the best it diserves ! That must be an awesome experience to work with a top class musician.

So, should I take that non-response as a no, Aaron? haha...

Turn the gain down and the volume up and it stays pretty damn clean. I'm all about crystal clear clean tones a la Roland JC120 and Fender Twin, and I think the 5150 III can do great clean tones...

That works for the 5150, but in my case not the 5150 III

I pretty much gave up looking for an amp that could do both and got a JCM800 2x12 combo and and a jc120 combo for live.

The closest I got in one amp was a Zwengell banshee.

When I heard Jeff's first solo album I thought they accidentally released a pre-production version. I anticipate this won't be the case the second time around, and really look forward to hearing what Jeff and Aaron cook up!

Uh? :err: Lead tone in Zero Phase Order is orgasmic. Rhythms are a bit dark but they fit in the mix well. Of course tastes are different.

I found it pretty horrible, to be honest. Sounded like preprod/demo to me as well...

I thought the same as well. I just couldn't get into it because I couldn't bear to listen to it for long. But I KNOW Aaron will do some great work with this. WE'LL BE WAITING AND WATCHING. But hey...no pressure. ;) :D

:OMG: Congrats man! and fuck yeah to the studio vids i love that shit! and if ya want me to i can come out and shoot video that way you dont get distracted
