Jedelpi: That is exactly why I don't use that word. It's offensive and also shows that you lack the ability to pinpoint why you don't like a certain person in an educative manor. Oh, and the fact that my dad almost beat my ass when I was a kid and said it before I knew what it meant. NOw that everyones arguing with me over my Semantics , Ive decided that since youll never understand my point that theres no real reason with arguing with you. I don't have much use for collective view of achievement of black people (I care about individuals, not groups), but I imagine there's a black history month because a lot of blacks for a long time in this country were used as slaves and otherwise treated like shit for a long time after that. I find it quite hypocritical you got upset with me over semantics, and then you complain about what terms people use to combine "American" and their "ethnicity" or whatever you like to call it. You claim words have no meaning, but get pissed off on terms people have used to describe themselves.
Racial slurs are not malleable. You can try to justify your use of them however you want, but it doesn't take away all the pain, suffering and injustice that has accompanied those words long before you were born.
