The Zakk Wylde set is an EMG 81(b) and 85(n)Why buy the set if he's only going to be able to use the 81?

It's great actually. But I'm one that like the 81, some people hate it but I like it. I think it has to do with their amp setup, it sound bad in some.
And the 81+85 is like SD SH-4 + Jazz.

I have a 81 and 85 in B.C. Rich. Sounds pretty cool but it's not a big difference between my B.C. Rich, my SV with two 81's and my Alexi 600 with H4 + PA-2...

^cool, nice to see someone not dogging the 81. Which RR24 you have? I'm getting one myself. I'll probably get the white then paint the bevel yellow or metallic green. It would be awesome.

I myself don't understand the bashing on the 81. I have one on the bridge position in my RR24 (black and red bevels) and I like it quite a lot.

But going back to Alexi's pickups I must say that my favourite tone since he's been using EMGs is Tuska 03. I really like that tone.

Seriously, do you really think that he has a EMG Pickup cover with another pickup under the cover?!? Thats bullshit and makes no sense.

I thought that cos I've seen humbuckers with cover and the cover being taken off, but...

It's kinda impossible to have a different pickup under an EMG cover. A few days ago I read that the pickup consists an acid which destroys parts of the pickup.
I thought i read it on wikipedia but i cant find it anymore.
