EMG 81 Pickup doubts

Guys - just in case anyone tells you otherwise - the Kerry King and Zakk Wylde sets are both regular EMG 81 and 85 pickups - no different other than the graphics on the box they come in! I asked one of the EMG reps at NAMM about this specifically a few years ago, and this is what he told me.

The Kerry King set comes with a PA2 circuit in the box - again, a product that can also be bought separately.

I used an EMG 81 and a passive humbucker together in a guitar using a 500k pot, a Les Paul-style 3 way and an EMG-style jack. I didn't have any noise or phase/tone issues. In fact it was one of the best sounding pickup combinations I've heard in a while. Certainly beat the JB/Jazz combo Schecter pimps so much.

have you got a circuit diagram for this?
I have an emg 81 i want to put into my epiphone flying v in the bridge in places of the stock humbucker.

I like those stock Gibson pickups just fine. they are just not superclear

If you go active, give the duncan blackouts a try too, compared the Emg81 and blackout in my guitar and like the blackout much better, the 81 wasn't bad either, but not as ballsy.

didn't try the 85 though.
