Lasse & Mago DI Pack (real drums on the backingtrack)

At first I was like "Yay! Some good stems so I can fresh up my mixing!". But they're actually so well played that you would have to go pants-on-head-stupid to get them to sound terrible so it didn't help that much  I just threw on TSE 808, X50 and s-preshigh and it sounded good.

Awesome playing, I hope my try sounds good since I'm mixing with just headphones :/

Did a quick reamp session yesterday. What do you gents think of this tone?

FYI - There is ZERO post-processing on this, and it's not mastered. Just a raw mix. I just threw all the separate mic'd guitar tracks over the backing track, kept everything at about the same level, and here ya go. Used a blend of a 57, 421, 47, and i5 mics; amps were a 5150 and Diezel, and cab was a 2x12 Mesa Recto

Actually had a chance to work on a proper mix with the reamps I did. The clip above was all mics from the amps at equal volume level, but this one I adjusted the phase issues I had a bit more to get them sounding good, and then adjusted volume levels of each mic and did a different mic blend for each side just for flavor. I think it turned out pretty bitchin'. What do you all think? This is my first reamp session with real amps in a proper setup, so hope it doesn't sound too bad.

Dunno if you guys feel like listening to my opinion, but I somehow feel responsible to say somthing since you use the DI's

Anyone ever tried the FreeAmp 3 plugin?

It´s pretty impressive...

My go on mago di´s (No post proc.): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/929252/Free%20Amp%20Test.mp3

never heared of that sim, but it sounds cool!

Had a go at this today using my engl e530 and guitar hacks impulses. The dis sound so good, i have been struggling to get a good sound out of the engl, but with these dis it took about 20 mins. Anyway let me no what you's think. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=826738&songID=11323892

needz moar gain, and theres something strange with the phase, or maybe the panning?

hm sounds pretty strong/stiff in the high mids and honks a bit...maybe try not using as many mics? sounds like some freqs are adding up in a not so nice way...

sounds fat but somethings strange with the overall balance

I like it, sounds cool!

Well I just setup things in my room again. I literally just miced my cab maybe 10min before doing this. I wanted to know what anyone thought of it. I think the guitars sound pretty decent. No EQing.

Baron Custom Amps K88 -> Mesa Recto C>SM57>Lexicon Lambda

a bit honky, but pretty nice

cool, maybe a bit fatter and less high mids would be nice

My try
Palmer Paccapo, OD808, XXX, HB V30s in a closet, SM57, GAP pre73, some EQ, RAxx
Used the normal backing track

They are great DI's.

sounds pretty stiff and nasal to me tbh

Another try.

cool!

Here is my test: :headbang:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18807078/DI DEMO.mp3

I used PodFarm2 for the head, screamer, and then ran the cabs through LeCab2 using 3 different mics on the 1960 Marshal cab in recabinet 2.0. Eq'd after the cabs and the added a Waves shuffler for image enhancement.

I sent both the backing track [with the drums and bass] and the guitar folder to another track and made a "room ample" to have a BIGGER guitar sound. Here is my room example from this reamp session:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/18807078/DI DEMO ROOM SAMPLE.mp3

My master chain was quick and dirty: Rcomp + Elephant. o_O

that room thingy doesnt sound good at all, and the otherone is a bit dark

that all said, had a nasty flu this week, so my hearing may only be at 90% or so

I actually agree... and I think it's due to the i5 actually. The 57 and 421 together sound godly, and the 47 added to it rounds out the freqs really nicely; however, that i5 adds some major honk, and I made sure it was in phase and everything... sometimes some mics just dont fit a mix. lol. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks Mago.
The 906 is a bit mid range heavy alright.

Here is my ZED-R16 versus API mic pre comparison from this thread:
http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/equipment/743269-itb-versus-zed-r16-mp3s.html

I re-amped the Lasse Mago DIs through ts808>triple recto>recto cab>57.
Matched levels as closely as possible.
Backing track is going to channels 1&2 on the Zed and the guitars are going to 3&4.
There was no eq used during tracking but guitars are EQed on the Zed's eq in mix.

Saw that this thread came up again and decided to give reaming these DI tracks a second shot. This is the EVH 5150III again, but this time ran through a custom impulse I made a few weeks ago rather than a mic'ed up cab. I think this tone is a lot better than my last attempt and fits the mix a lot better. There is no post processing on the guitars, and just a little slate fgx on the master buss for volume.

i will have another go tomorrow, try more gain and look at the panning, i think the panning was 70-80 for each guitar.
