Legendary Norwegian bands

Immortal by a long long way. Mayhem would have gotten my vote except that I don't feel that where they are at the moment represents the Legend. Immortal are fucking incredible, and much more interesting than any of the other bands.

Why Throns is not on the list??? They influenced almost all of the above bands...De Mysteriis album has many riffs and ideas of Snorre which were going to be on the Thorns album...

Or so they say... Personally, I wouldn't trust that "fact" farther than I could throw Snorre.

I agree, maybe I'm not "necro" or "kvlt" enough, but I vote Immortal. They're so much more than just a legendary black metal band from Norway IMO.

As far as I remember, they weren't that great. It's been a while though.

Black metal started before Mayhem with Venom. And even if you somehow don't see Venom as a black metal band, Bathory definitely was one and the whole norwegian black metal-style was founded on Bathory's The Return.

anyway I've heard yes the Thorns rehearsals, many many years ago, Black Metal yes, quite great, even better Thorns finally did that debut album,
