ok i hope its not impossible to avoid the possible drama fest that may ensue after i ask this question, but people... lets TRY to avoid it, please..

how hard / easy is it to sell a PT HD 3 rig? anyone done it? im contemplating jumping ship, and no i don't need anyone to tell me why i should stay or pat me on the back for leaving. just wondering if these things are hard to sell.

my system is practically brand new.

2 ways to go about it.

1- Fast sell on gearslutz (highly recommended), but you'll take a bit of a bath on it and probably lose a few thousands (that's a generous estimate too)

2- Wait it out till you find someone who's will to give you what you want via craigslist or something.

In general you will have a bit of a hard time selling whole systems. I find that selling the core cards is generally easier, but you will find someone who wants it. If you can try and take it back to where you bought it, cause no one will give you a better deal IMO.

I will probably jump to new nuendo. 64 bit. With a new windows machine. This whole pt game is causing my usual clients to complain about slowness and other shit about the way pt was designed kind of sucks for my workflow. Even after I outsourced drum ediing I'm still behind on other things. I will miss elastic audio tho if I switch. The decision isn't final and I still enjoy running many Tdm plugins in pt.

The other day I edited, added fx, and mixed an attack attack song in about an hour total on cubendo. I don't even have a tuning workflow that I'm happy with in pt because autotune is broken in audiosuite and graph tuning/re-recording every take takes too many voices and too much time.

well the problem is that everyone is expecting digidesign...uhm...avid...to come up with something new, so the prices for PT HD aren't as good as they should be.
on the otherhand everyone was expecting something new from digi for the past two years...all they came up with was a name change and a fucked up new page.

do you have PCI-X or PCIe? I'd be interested in a PCI-X accel card

Not much to add, but good luck with it.

If you get a chance, demo a copy of the new Presonus Studio One 1.5

It isn't as fully featured as other DAWs at the moment, but some of the improvements they've made to workflow seem quite stellar. Bouncing, importing, bussing etc. all the bread and butter stuff they have streamlined so even uber-tards can do it efficiently.

Yeah Autotune AS is fucked. YOu gotta switch the source from host to internal or it won't scroll or anything.

If you are going to sell joey. Sell sooner then later. While my money is on next namm then anytime sooner, AVID (since digi doesn't exist now) is going to do SOMETHING....

If you're going to do it, do it now, while Avid is busy reorganizing their corporate sock drawers. Sell it while it's current. I may know some folks who might be interested (possibly anyway), if you can PM me the specs and what you're hoping to get for it dollars-wise.
