A few weeks ago I filmed a live video in Brissy. I've put a song up if you're interested in seeing what it is that I do. I remember a long time ago someone here (I think it was Haupassia) said that there was no evidence yet that I was any good and I'm not guaranteeing that this is that evidence. However, can I just say that it's here if you would like to have a look and I'm very sensitive to criticism so if you think I'm crap, don't tell me about it. I'd rather be blissfully unaware thank you very much!! :)

My album is being released through Universal next year in Australia (and Germany and the UK) so I have to really get my shit together so to speak. And here I am on the 1st of August 2005 making an effort to do that. Why are we musicians so self-destructive????

It's being released in Japan too this month. I can't wait for that. I'm doing a great big tour over there to really push sales this time. At least that's the plan. I'm going there in a few weeks to organise it.

So there is my long-winded way of saying that I hope you enjoy Two is a Crowd....( I think it's about 4Meg)

Here

Is this one of your new self-penned numbers, Tania? Can't download it just now because I'm allegedly at work, but I look forward to hearing and seeing ASAP :).

(Any chance of a cover of Wuthering Heights at some stage? Kate Bush is my new diva goddess of the moment.)

W

Yep I wrote this song. I wrote it with an Aussie artist called Mark Scholtez. Kate Bush is amazing but no I don't forsee myself doing Wuthering Heights. Never say never though! I'm not exactly Tori Amos either Wrathy. Actually, I'm not really like anyone out there at the moment. I hope that's not a bad thing. :ill:

I don't know this song..

But speaking of songs I do know, Automatic - No Limit seems to regulary pop up on my iRiver playlist when I've got it on random. Out of the 5000odd tracks on the thing, this would be one of the most played. :)

Ooh. It was my idea that she starts playing the piano again, people! :) I must say, I RULE when it comes to career advice. :headbang:

Nice song, maybe a bit long but that's OK.

That's a LIVE performance?

wow. Super-impressive stuff Tania, seriously. I rate myself pretty highly as a musician but I feel a bit humbled after watching / listening to that. I'm gonna go do an hour of scales and then spend the rest of the evening searching the net for some really dodgy bands to listen to until I feel talented again.

:D

1. Fur is murder
2. That song is actually quite nice and it's more than I gave you credit for. I could actually listen to your album when I get in my moods for Tori Amos or Delta if the rest of it is like that. Thumbs up.
3. You are fairly hot
4. You should incorporate some trip hop influences into your music so you sound more like portishead.
5. Please do a cover of Total Eclipse of the Heart with said trip hop influences.
6. Will you ever tour with Prince?

Thank you so much for all your positive comments. I was so not expecting it. You are the first ones to see this video (with the exception of some record company people around the place) and I'm going to link it to my website soon. My bro is just finishing encoding another track I want to put up there.

Yes this is indeed very live. It is one-take audio with no production magic what-so-ever. It's amazing how many times the guy who manages me is asked, "So can she really sing like that live?". It gets very frustrating sometimes so I hope this will go some way to stop that question. It was actually recorded in a studio, not in a live venue. The reason for this was a financial one. I had recorded some of my live shows down here (as Tim will verify) but to get the visual side looking professional is really hard. Of course when I play in a real venue in Brissy, I will let you know Icarus. (And Spiff, Kem, Southy, Salty, etc :) )

In all honesty, I'm shocked that you think it's ok. I am always struggling with self-doubt. It's true, Spiff said to me a few years ago that I should play the piano again and I thought there was no way I could do it. And now, here I am. Thanks Nigel :headbang: Haupy, your comment was one of the shocks, thank you so much. And sorry the song's a bit long Spiff. The album track isn't that long because the tempo is faster. :D

Tin Man, that's amazing, thank you! And thanks Phloggy and Blitzy.

Sydo, Automatic is my favourite song from my first album. That is so cool!

Koichi, I don't wear animal fur. It was completely synthetic and I couldn't afford the real thing anyway. Your comments are pretty close to some nice compliments and I know they don't come easily, so thank you. I'll give serious thought to the trip hop thing. And doesn't Prince like to do funny things to female musicians?

Moony,

Thats really very impressive, especially as a single take... :)

You have a very smooth voice and I completely believe we will all hear a lot more (hopefully) !

And the piano playing.. wow, that was unexpected and VERY impressive.

There are so many pop artists out there and you hear so much rubbish on the radio that when you hear something clean and honest its a pleasant surprise.

Well done :)

We'll be there!

As long as you understand the myself, tonci and andy will be most likely drunk...and standing at the back singing Revelations at the top of our lungs :headbang:

I'm sure we'll enjoy it! :D

Great video btw :)

If you ever need any artwork done *coughselfpromtioncough*

I must be honest and say that while it's good, I don't think it's as good as Tin Man is saying. But it is good. Also, even though I buy chick music on occasion (well, the only regular ones are Sarah McLachlan and Alison Krauss) I'm not sure if I would buy it based on that song alone. It has to either be real special, or I have to know the person performing, so one out of two ain't bad, I guess. :)

But yeah, good stuff.

:OMG:

You're disagreeing with me? HOW DARE YOU!

Nah j.k

I have a thing about people who can sing and play at the same time, with no other accompanyment (is that even a word?). Like... I can rip of some hard sounding stuff on the guitar, but it's rock and there's plenty of other sounds going on, plus distortion and whatever else that covers up any little mistakes. Plus I'm just a 'home studio musician' these days so I can spend hours or days or as long as it takes to get things right.

Playing (and especially singing) quiet tasteful sort of things like that, especially live with no editing or touch ups always impresses the hell out of me. Mainly because I can't do it myself ;)

Well done Tania. Very impressive. While I don't generally buy music by female artists unless it's ball-tearing rock, I will be buying your album because I like what you do, and you are a wonderful talent who deserves the support.
