A cold front is moving with with a rather spectacular storm. After nearly two weeks of spring, we're in for some more winter.

EDIT: Looks like we're having it easy in Sofia. - A town in northern Bulgaria, Gabrovo, is in a state of emergency due to gale force winds, blackouts, communication disruptions, considerable damage. A woman has been killed by a construction scaffolding blown away by the gale.

Wasn't the whole mess supposed to last for like one day?

It's been raining heavily here during the day, but it's quiet now. We're in for some stormy weather tomorrow and then the spring comes.

Winter's dying breath...

We're getting your weather with about a 24-hour delay. It was slightly windy here all day, but it was warm and wasn't raining. About an hour ago the cold front arrived with high winds, thunderstorms, rain and the temperatures are plummeting. But in many parts of the country it's been blowing very hard all day.
We're getting snow tomorrow, cold on Sunday and then it's gonna be spring again.

It has been cold nights (-20...-26C / southern Finland) but warm days (-5...-7C) but the thing which has been annoying me is that okay the sun is shining like daily but still the snow don't melt yet. I feel like an alien trying to decide is this OK or not, do I want that snow blindness made by white snow + sun shings or what the hell I'd prefer. I thought this a week and finally I know. I want asap the snow away and I am ready to welcome spring. When it is a daytime and warm you can smell the spring, sounds funny but it is so. It is a bit sad to let go the winter darkness but that is only because I am melancolic finnish or how the phrase was :hotjump: Today I sow some vetetable seeds so I can spend my summer time with my hobby gardening/sitting in a greenhouse. Sitting in a greenhouse while a huge thunderstorm is woohoo great exept when the storm is right above our area and the land starts to shake, then I lose courage and starts a quick run to inside the house. And no, no weed growing, 1 time that finnish police comes to take them off was enough. It wasn't even me but the damn husband, but I don't want my chili pepper plants to take off too so that I have to ask them the to give them back to me. "What is chili plant..?"

Club Teatria has just reserved a new location. It's expected it will move there in 2015 at the latest, although it may have to leave the current place already sometime next year.

Yes, I know mr. Google would tell me if I ask him, but I'm lazy ass and ask for you. :)
What is behind this move? Is their rental just ending or is someone going to demolish the building or what?
And what they do on that time between 2014 and 2015 if they havo no spaces?

I'm just curious with this kind of cases, Tanssisali Lutakko in Jyväskylä, S-Osis in Turku, Nosturi in Helsinki and now Teatria...

The current old factory hall is indeed going to be demolished, making way for new apartments that are already being built in the immediate surroundings. I've no idea what's going to happen if they won't get a smooth move in 2014 though.

I'm filled with PRIDE looking at the People's Initiative for legalizing same-sex marriages, which started this morning and is already getting close to reaching the 50,000 signatures necessary to make it obligatory for Parliament to handle the matter.

The only initiative to collect enough signatures so far was the one on banning fur farming, but that one took several months.

EDIT: one and a half hours later, and we're fifty thousand strong. F*ckin' awesome. If only this result would make our Christian fundamentalist Minister of the Interior desperate enough to resign and spend the rest of her life in a nunnery...

Bravo!
I suspect that if someone here comes up with the idea, there will be blood in the streets. We're such a pathetic little intolerant country.

Reminds me of an attempt to make a Pride Parade in Belgrade 2 or 3 years ago.
That was unsettling, to put it mildly.

With all due respect for the gay community, making a Pride Parade in most Balkan countries is far from a good idea, and I'm not sure if they should keep on with it, for the time being.
As for the folks in Finland, it's good news for sure and I wish them the best.

It's spring break at my campus, so what are we doing? Planning next quarter's classes, of course.

That's okay, though, because we just found juusto at the local organic grocery. Nom!

First sort of normal spring day to fall in a weekend - warm and sunny. Went cycling in the park (which was absolutely crowded), launched the Beer-in-the-park 2013 season and picked some wild violets.
Code Orange for torrential rains tomorrow. :bah: :bah: :bah:
Looks like we're in for some more shit weather. We only get about one nice day in about seven and it usually happens during the week.

I totally enjoyed the "Memphis" musical. The kids at my Alma Mater, the American University in Bulgaria, are on tour with it. I don't like musicals in general, but I figured I'd go and show some support. It was brilliant, really, especially having in mind that they are an amateur company. And the music was killer too, but, then again, I love rock and roll and R&B (the original meaning) - this is where it all started :D

Anathema will be playing an acoustic gig in Sofia. I wonder if I should go. I like them, quite a bit, at that, but am afraid that an entirely acoustic show will be a tad too depressing for my taste. Has anyone been to such an Anathema gig and what would you suggest?

I've only seen Danny's acoustic gigs (solo & with Anneke vG), but judging from those I'd utterly recommend the full Anathema version as well. There was nothing depressing at all about the shows I saw, actually they were a lot of fun. :)

Danny and Anneke I've seen as well. It was lovely, really. It's just that I'm afraid that they will be playing mostly stuff from their latest two albums, which, to be honest, I don't fancy much. But thanks for the advice ;)

If Kalevala is our national cultural epos, Tuntematon sotilas is our national war epos. And now you can also drink it while reading.

Ode to spring: This was the first day in several months, which I spent mostly outdoors. Went tree planting with a bunch of friends and then had a little picnic and a few beers.
I do love the smell of fresh greenery and wet soil. I love the spring sun and the spring raindrops on my face, I love the bird songs and the smell of blooming trees :D

Also here it seems more spring-like, at last. In addition to the smell of melting ground I like also how blackbird's singing already can be heard in the woods. But spring is my favourite season after all, because of all these signs.

Besides it made me happy to see that swans have come back to their pond. :)
