Thats a possibility.
And now that i think of it given the very awkwar circumstances that surrounded and resulted in his leaving the pop band Metallica (all metallica after 89 was pop driven shite) it is more likely that he was being polite.

But i still stand by my first statement in reguards to face value.

I thought he left Metallica 'cause Metallica had to let him go. He had other desires (musically) than the other band members. I think that's what Lars said in a interviwe with Scream Magazine

You and whoever it was that said they are playing the way he wanted to are both correct, he wanted the band to play differently (direction he wanted to go) and now they are playing the way he wanted to , they thought it was an empty threat and he would never leave.

i saw a video interview with them all, including jason, exposing the real reasons for him leaving Metallica.

Oh and btw hwoever it was who said "he gave us Justice," well you are wrong, he played on justice but cliff wrote the whole bloody album, . . . . . fuckin bus driver.
