well i just came back from cinema... only thing i will tell you: go and watch this movie! it's amazing. sure, they've left out some minor parts from the first two books, but anyways... i won't tell you anything, just go and look for yourselves.

I agree with Vulture!! Go and see :)
I watched the movie last night...Lucky me,i hadn't even booked tickets for that, but hehe if you think and act a bit different from the ordinary greek people you can end up in a lovely cinema with only 25 people around you:)-for the first time in my life i didn't have to listen to the annoying sound of popcorn :p
:hotjump:

Argghhh!!!! I saw it two days ago, and I still haven´t recovered... Frekkin´awsome! A few thingies were anoying, but the feeling I had when I was leaving the cinema was great...Everyone... Go see it!!!!

-p,o-

I hate you all lucky guys.
The Italian Film Corporation will release the movie _only_ after jan 18th....and you know why? Because (ehehe, what's the price of sun and good weather..:) people would rather stay out with friends than go at the movies, so the f. Harry Potter and something else are far enough to fill cinemas.

How about the Lord? Why waste the success it could have now, right before Christmas....*sigh*

But anyway (hopefully) I'll have the chance to watch it abroad...

Yea, i totally agree. FotR rocks. I cant describe how good it was, but one thing is clear: IT ROCKS YER ASS! Yes, it doesnt contain all that the book contained but so what? Dont think about it and it rocks.

ok I still dont know what FotR means, (fellowship of the rings? Is that a european title)

I shall see it on saturday my friends!

i think it's the same title for everyone :)
the right title is : The Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring

haven't you read the book ? The Fellowship of the Ring is the title of the first one

Oooooooooooook (translation: it was fucking awesome)

I saw it Wednesday, my first feeling coming home, was posting here and saying how great it was, but then I thought I would spoil the movie to the ones hadn't seen it yet....so I awaited till the thread popped up :) (thanx vulture)
Well, first five minutes, with the war of the last alliance I nearly cried of the emotion. I was shaking it was sooooooooooo amazing. Finallllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The ones who have read the book, go and see it, it's amazing (but don't expect the details (and some not SO details) being followed strictly)
The ones who doesn't have read the book go and see it, it's a fantastic movie, and I hope you understand it :)
The ones who doesn't care at all, just go and see it, don't you have some curiosity????
THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY TALE, NOW IN THE SHAPE OF A MOVIE

and finally a little extrange review ala FatherVic
Best character: Boromir (in the book I love Gimli )
Worst Character: Galadriel (for the role, not the actress)
Best Parts: Introduction, Moria and the fight in the end
Worst Parts:Arwen stealing Glorfindel's role, where's Tom?, Lorien and Galadriel's transformation :err:

fathervic (who will see this movie so many times that will start living in a hole in the ground)

i don't agree with you
yes Arwen steals the role of Glorfindel, but i find her extraordinary in the movie
when she arrives to save Frodo, she is so beautiful, she is so perfect in her role ... i have never thought Liv Tyler could play a such beautiful "creature" ... for me this scene has some magic feelings ... but yes it's not like that in the book

in fact, except a few scenes, i find the movie looks too much like as a recitation of the book ... i think that most of the people who haven't read the book will be disappointed by the movie, because there is no psychology in the characters ... if you don't have read the book, you don't know why they act like this, nothing is said in the movie ... i am a big fan of the book, so it doesn't affect me, but i think it's not the case of everyone

and for Tom Bombadil and the Old Forest, it's not a big problems if they are not in the movie in my opinion ... it would have taken too much time to be correctly treated, and it isn't too important for the rest of the movie

yes Galadriel is bad in the movie, but some scenes are missing, which will be included in the DVD (who should be released in june) ... for example, when she gives the presents to the fellowship ... so i am waiting for the director's cut who should be far better for Galadriel (who is really bad in the movie, if you haven't read the book, you can't have any idea of who she is)

i think it's really a movie for the fans of Tolkien ... it's not as great for the others

well I don't like nobody stealling anyone's role, even it was directly Karen McDougal making Gandlaf ;p

and yeap, nobody won't notice Galadriel's powers, that's why I want to hear the critic from somebody who hasn't read the book
and also waiting for the DVD (now that I finally have the player :p)

hey i miss good ol bombadil... sad he has been left out. but with him the story would have been an hour longer... seems he was the most unimportant part in the first two books. whatever.. i'd like to have seen his chick, according to jrr tolkien she must have been even more beautiful than arwen and galadriel together :)

AHHHHHHHHHH I ALMOST READ ABOUT THE MOVIE! NOOOOOOOOOO!!! THANKS A LOT FV!!!!!!!

and no, i havent read the book. So shoot me :D

I miss Tom (and most certainly his wife:) too... And I do think it is a mistake putting out Glorfindel, since he his such a great character... In everything essential I agree with you FV! I can´t find anything to say that you haven´t said already...:)

Anyway, over... And out!

well that's because I managed to make my brain to think.
We had a very serious talk before getting in the cinema...
I finally said "hey, you concentrate on the movie and then I leave you being dumb the rest of the year" and he accepted, that's why I have nothing but clear thoughts about the movie :)

Final_Vision: so, who's Galadriel among the elves and why is she so important?
