Lotr - Tfotr

that's why ask :p
so you can't get the point, that's why it seemed to me that the movie lacked something!!!!!
hope you come to read the book and know what the hell I'm talking about :)

hey Fathervic, he hasn't watch the movie :)
he said he will go saturday to see it
that's why he was complaining you told too much about the story

Imho the film was as great as can be for such a book.
Naturally, you can't transfigure all the subtle little threads into the film (was the same with such great movies as "The Name of the Rose").

But:

1. The Orcs were much too slimy, imho they should have been hairy and more of a brownish-green colour.

2. Galadriel absolutely sucks, esp. her transfiguration (worst scene of the whole film).

3. In the introduction Sauron wasn't more than a badly animated computer sprite. Somehow reminded me of Diablo and wasn't shocking at all....

For the positive ones:

1. The fellowship of the Ring is really great, esp Legolas, Aragorn and Gimli. The only thing that was annoying was that Gimli had the voice of Bud Spencer....

2. Arwen was so fucking beautiful

3. The Nazgul are SCARY!!!!

4. Best scene: Arwen conjuring the flood wave!

I've got the tickets to assist to a LOTR session in Christmas Eve, so I cannot read this thread until next tuesday.
Don't explain anything 'bout the movie! Ggggrrrrrrr!

And... Bud Spencer and Terence Hill rule! The titles of their movies in spanish are so cool: "Dos Superpolicías", "Quién tiene un amigo tiene un tesoro" (great one, they find a japanese in a forgotten island and fight against pirates, hahaha). And the big one: "Banana Joe", with an amazing soundtrack!

I liked the movie but some things annoyed me.

1. Arwen! Why couldn't they just stick with Glorfindel who is such a great character. The whole romance thingie between Aragorn and Arwen was such hollywoodian crap.

2. Gandalf versus Saruman battle. Yeah, flashy effects and fireballs are cheesy after DragonLance and such but Matrixlike fighting looks stupid too.

3. Tom Bombadil is missing!

4. The illogical and incorrect things in Moria. The fellowship is totally surrounded by orcs and such. Then they hear the balrog and the orcs flee. This I can still understand. But later on the orcs attack again! And to kill too! Why didn't they swarm them in the first place? The balrog looked really great though! The cave troll looked skillfully made but didn't match my thoughts about cavetrolls.

5. The breaking of the fellowship. Frodo's talk with Aragorn and Meriadoc and Peregrin seeing Frodo and all that crap. Also if I'm not mistaken Ugluk got killed but I'm not sure of that.

All in all a good movie.

This has been done because the fellowship of the ring was originally made of only male people, and this would have upset feminists. Damnit, this can only happen in America...

i'm quite sure the face of bilbo was computer-animated for that scene. look at the teeth and the eyes...

I think so too.

Anyone remember the cartoon, "Lord of the Rings"? I used to watch it all the time when it came on the Disney Channel, especially Return of the King. I still sometimes sing "Where there's a whip, there's a way."

yeap it is "animated" if that sort of shit can be named as animated.
I don't know how ppl like the one doing the same fx for the armies and the balrog can do some lame things as that for bilbo and the one for Galadriel....odd!

Ok, saw the movie yesterday and it FUCKING RULED ALL! Im not a hardcore fan of the series like I can see most of you are, i.e I havent read the books and didnt have any special expectations besides it looked good, and I like epics. So overall I was satisfied greatly and is possibly my favorite movie of the year, ok so it is my favoirte movie of the year. The story as gripping and easy to follow, great cast that you really cared for, my mouth was open for about 10 minutes after Gandalf fell into the shadow. Legolas is the man (elf hehe), the moves he pulled off were friggen amazing. I know that kind of feeling may not have been the same for you guys since you all know what happens and knew what would happen, but to me it was amazing. Another fuckin year for the next one. Ill tell you one thing, I CANT WAIT! Top notch movie, may have dragged here and there but it was definitly my fav of the year.

11/10 stars from me.

Yeah, I know but still it upsets me. Glorfindel is such a great character.

Nice signature by the way.

I saw the movie, and is a wonder in images. I like so much the soundtrack too, and I think Aragorn, Frodo and Boromir are the best characters. But in my opinion, the changed ending of this first chapter is absolutely unnecessary, Frodo must leave within the permission of anybody, refering the book!!

Well every time I see it I come to like it more and more. All the meaningless "errors/fuckups" just fade away, and the magic of moria/rivendel/the last alliance battle/bree/the whole film invades me. I'm getting to the point where this movie will be my fave ever.
But still I can't believe how someone could do this to Galadriel. It's so horrible!!!!! just impossible to be true (must be a joke from Jackson I didn't get)

@F_V glad to hear my friend. What did you thought about Galadriel she's a good or a bad character???? It's important????
would you marry the Balrog?

Saw it twice on opening day and I am going again tomorrow. Glad you people seem to enjoy it as much as I do. It was definately a long time since i cried in the theater as I did for this masterpiece.
Excellent casting, impeccable set design, superb music and an emotional depth I haven´t seen in movies in years.

True Tolkien nut as I am I promise not to use any fantasy references in the new songs ;-)

I want to start wearing reflexes when I walk outside and wear a helmet when I ride my bike just so that I won´t miss the following two movies, that´s how important this is....

Take care people! And Merry Christmas!

LOR is a really awesome movie - although there are some quite kitschy scenes and music, it is definitely the greatest fanatasy-film so far. The only fu**ing problem is that we'll have to wait two more years until the story/movie ends...
