Lotr - Tfotr

@starte: The elves, according with the book, are tall, wonderful and envolved in an inherent light. They aren't as robust as the humans, so that appearance could be more effeminate. But Elrond seems gay in the movie, hehehe, without the majesty he's involved in the book. (Specially in the concilium-picnic before the union of the Fellowship, in Rivendel)

And Gimli, in the book, is defending and venerating the name of Galadriel all the way, and this behaviour is closer to the love, but all could be possible.

Arwen sucks both in the book and the fuckin' Liv Tyler. I like the Balrog so much, great graphic design!!!

the balrog is my favourite character: so full of personality and wit... ;)

gimli actually has very few chances with galadriel, unless he's planning the portable-ladder trick, as per terry pratchett. :)

@astarte: he means they are surrounded by light. (sorry |ngenius, that was just for the record)

rahvin.

nonono! i didn't mean what you think i meant...
i guess i can't express myself very well..... i know the elves are sort of "delicate" but that was too much... if you remember when one of the elves tells them Galadriel is waiting for them, you'll know what i mean ;)

i forgot to mention that the orcs looked a bit like Dani Filth :err:

yeah, we know what you mean. he looked like he wanted very badly to add something on the lines of 'then you can come along at my place' *wink*, but then they told him it wasn't in the script.
he kept the expression tho. :)

I don't think I will go see it, even if it is missing Tom Bombadil, hell I still haven't read the books even. I read the first one and I think it is one of the most boring books I have ever read.

Celeborn was so gay.
He is in the books too, but in the movie, the way he said his one line....heheh, just total gayness. :)

isn't celeborn played by the guy who did "mr. smith" in the matrix? that has made him quite awkward for me.

Thanking Mr. Emanuele Filiberto, I saw my copy of the Lord..... on jan the 18th I'll have the premiere in italian....but it's great, oh yeah:)

Just wondering: I always thought Galadriel a wonderful blonde lady with a sweet, soft voice....
Cate Blanchett is blonde, she's an angel....but the voice! What a dark, hoarse voice!

did you watch the movie in english ?
personnally, i liked her voice, compared to the french one (i saw both versions) which was awful ... as most of the voices in the non french movies

Thank god here we don't have a version in spanish :)

I think the selection of actors for the characters was very well done (good enough for my 'picture' but there's some exceptions)... Galadriel was almost exactly as i imagined her. Almost, because her darker side was portrayed as a rather evil one.

Galadriel isn't as wonderful as the book described. But I think all is based in opinions. Yesterday, a friend told me Frodo seems an elf. And another friend said Legolas didn't a good performance of the character. Everyone has his own image of the Middle Earth.

No, I watched the english version, but I don't like her voice!
Cate Blanchett is awesome...but ....the voice.....

indeed everyone has his own image of middle earth...
To me galadriel seemed far more evil than in the book and this had a negative impact, people who haven't read the book might think she is mean or sth...but i simply loved her voice...especially in the prologue....and in the scene where she spills water on the mirror *shiver*
Boromir seemed to very annoying (hmmm this is not the correct word) anyway i disliked him during the whole movie, while in the books he pisses me off only when he tries to get/steal the ring from Frodo
Also Frodo seems to be both nice and stupid in the book, while in the film I find him very trevlig/sympatisch/pleasant(?) (grrrrrrrrrr i can't speak proper english today) and not stupid at all...

well the fifth time for me (and still wanting to go as soon as possible for the sixth!!!!)
and still finding the Galadriel "show" embarrassing, Elrond too gay (except in the first part :) ), the Fellowship no that fellow...
But the more I see it the more I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
boromir, legolas, gandalf, frodo, pippin....oh they are just great!!!!
and aragorn tooooo!!!!

@astarte: thought you had it in Spanish there, what do the ppl doesn't know English??? read the subtitles???? and the ones that can't read????
here we have it in Spanish, in Catalan and in English, so everybody can choose (next time for me in English :)

fathervic (who prefers diversity rather than reading when I just want to view nice landscapes and decapitations!)

here is something a beautiful friend of mine passed me few dayz ago, and you can find it on Opeth forum (which I can't follow, and so I post it here, for the ones who can't or don't want)
sooooooooooooo it's completely copied from there, not mine!!!

LOTR dream cut
This was taken from the Tolkien Online messageboards:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've just spoken to a good friend of mine who worked on FOTR as a stunt man, and he had a lot to do with stunt co- ordination. Heres what he had to say on the film's 3 hour cut.

-He told me he was extremely disappointed because 75% of all the stunts they did were cut(due to graphic content). Apparently, at least 3 mins of the Amon Hen battle was cut, including numerous decapitations, high falls and stabbings.

- Most of the violent shots cut out at Amon Hen involved Gimli and Legolas.

- We only saw the opening and closing of Aragorn's battle against the 40 Uruks. The really violent stuff in the middle was cut.

- A sequence of Gimili chopping heads in Moira was cut.

- The most violent shots of Legolas' archery were cut, including a shot at Amon Hen where he pins two Uruks heads together with one arrow.

- Wizards duel, slightly cut. But apparently the angles that were selected de-emphasised the graphic nature of the battle.
Notice how Gandalf was bleeding more than was warranted? Apparently there are a lot more wide shots of the impacts. as well as more shots involving an actual staff fight, and not just spells.
p.s that's Ian Mckellen spinning on the ground, not a stuntman.

- In terms of drama, a lot of Gimili and Legolas' scenes were cut involving their developing friendship. As well as scenes between Gandalf and Aragorn. Also more bits of Boromir slowly cracking.

- At least 30 mins total was cut from Rivendell and Lothlorien. Including the giving of the gifts.

- 1-2mins of the prologue were cut. Most of the shots were of Gil Galad and Elendil annihilating orcs. But also cut were their 'alternate' death scenes. This is after a one on one battle with Sauron. My friend knows this because he was in this scene and had a single line of dialogue, responding to an order from Gil Galad. This indicates that there was dialogue and character interaction in the prologue. Also cut was a sequence of elf bowmen firing thousands of arrows at the charging orcs.

- Finally, PJ's original 'final cut' was 4hrs.45mins - described as his Dream Cut. This was in turn cut under orders from New Line to a little under 4 hours. The rest of the stuff cut from this version, thus making the present 3 hour cut, was the above mentioned blood guts as well as more battle stuff and drama. The good money, I am told, is on PJ's 'dream version being released as an alternate dvd in the future. But more than likely not on the official dvd

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so once the official cut is marketed to death we'll probably see a director's cut with added dialogue and battle scenes and a higher age certificate
